Default Comparative DA correction test from AZ to NJ

Timeslips are from 4-5-08 at Speedworld, Wittmann, AZ el. 1480'

This test is to see if the same car running in a higher altitude in recorded weather conditions will produce the same corrected times when run at a lower altitude and different weather conditions.

It's a somewhat loosely controlled semi-scientific physical attempt to prove/disprove the mathematical calculations on the website http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php

The car is a '08 A6 2.56 gear. Mods are Vararam CAI, Z06 mufflers, 160 stat, and a timing/fan tune. It's well broken in at 11K miles, so the 3K to get from AZ to NJ won't make a measurable difference.

The plan is to arrive in NJ or somewhere nearby by the 14th and make the runs as soon as reasonable. Dennis offered to pay all my expenses. Opps, I mean loan me a helmet and verify stats on the NJ end.

Here's the data for the above passes for anyone who wishes to follow this thread.

Run # Temp %Hum BP DA corrected ET Corrected MPH

1 - 70.9 - 20 - 29.68 - 2932 -- 11.94 -- 121.95
2 - 69.0 - 21 - 29.70 - 2788 -- 11.90 -- 122.25
3 - 59.0 - 28 - 29.71 - 2131 -- 11.93 -- 122.20

Notice how the original times had a .14 range and a 1.44 mph range, but the corrected times only a .04 range and mph a .30 range. The previous 6 passes from two weeks ago all corrected between 11.92 and 12.00. The only change in between was the Z06 mufflers.

I intend to enjoy the trip regardless of the outcome.

If you are back here on the 12th or the 26th you can make it to the Corvette Challenge at Englishtown. Great to have you & maybe you'll win the "drove the furthest to run at E-Town" trophy!

Wow! That would be a great trip, but the bride will be along. I can probably squeeze out 2 or 3 racing days in a 30 day trip without problems. I'm already making her work 3 days in NH as trade for spending a week sightseeing in DC.

If the weather is good I'll try to see if that works for me. Sounds like fun, especially getting to meet forum members.
Thanks for the invite.

Oh yeah he should try and make it to a 'Corvette specific' type event for sure if he can, I should be there on the 12th as well but probably only running in the 12.0 Index class.

I just gotta get my license renewed or else e-town won't let me race again. Its wierd because my license is renewed, but the photo ID is old... Regardless, I think thats the plan for this weekend. /tangent

I vote that Dennis pay for the whole trip, it's the least that he can do!

The plan is to race at Atco on the 15th, assuming no weather problems. If the track is closed then, the backup dates are the 22nd and then the 24th.

The 26th is the only time I can get to E-Town, so I'm crossing my flags that the weather is good. The Corvette Challenge and meeting all you east coast guys will be the highlight of my trip.

With luggage space at a premium, I'd prefer to not bring my helmet. So if anyone can give me a firm commitment to let me borrow a 7 1/4, plus or minus a little, I'd really appreciate it.

I will see you at Atco on the 15th! I'd let you use my helmet but I plan to use it when racing you!

Atco rents helmets for $3 though, so it isn't bad at all.

See you then!

Rentals at the track are cool. I never thought to ask about that, so that's what I'll do. Thanks for the info and the offers.

I think the only way I'll have a chance to beat you Andrew, is if you redlight or decide to take pity on an old man.

I have a habit of smoking the clutch atleast one time every time I'm at the track. Damn you autos and your consistancy. So it should be good and fun!

So you're either telling me I've got a chance or that this is a pre-emptive excuse in case I somehow win.

Yeah, those autos are consistently hampered by TM too.

Day one of the trip started with warm sunshine, progressed to rain, then SNOW , and finished with rain again. I sure hope conditions improve tomorrow.

Remember, you are heading for the east coast, where, unlike Arizona, the weather almost 'always" sucks. I live in Pennsyrainia. Now, even though I've been going to the Corvette Challenge for the last 6 years, at least twice a year they are rained out & usually at least one more is shortened by rain. Been there in snow flurries, hurricane winds, 98 degree with 95% humidity & so cold I had to wear three jackets. Fun is had by all !! Drive safely.

I'm giving you hope.

Although honestly you're best chance at "beating" me is the reaction time. With my Auto GTO I could pull .0xx lights. But with the M6 I am chilling out at around 400 lights... So you may get to the end of the track before me!
