Default Convertible roll bar?

I was at Thunderhill a couple of weeks ago and saw a C5 vert with a wolfe roll bar. They make them for the C5's. Looked real nice.

Does anyone know if there is a C6 vert roll bar on the market..

I called Wolfe and they said they don't make them for the C6. seems kind of wierd?

Thanks

We discuss this every several weeks. So far no one has found a roll bar kit for the C6 vert. However, there are some custom built jobs out there. The one I saw looked awful and was not solid enough to be functional.

There just isn't enough space behind the seats for a 4 point and it can't come high enough to clear your helmet and still be low enough to allow the convertible top.

One idea is to get a welder to anchor custom brackets that allow a *removable" bar to use only when the top is down (similar to the windscreen set-up) but how about if it rains all of a sudden... you'd need to quickly get the bar out and then put it where?

Having said that, I'm still not closing the book on this. I'm waiting until my tuner gets some free time this summer and he'll draw up some plans and see if it works. Hopefully, we'll not need to remove the tanks. If this works you can bet I'll post a report w/ pics

A friend is looking to one also. I will post what is found.

Any further news on this guys?

I had a custom roll bar installed in my C5 convertible.
It was functional AND removable (But SCCA still wouldn't recognize it).

Of course, it cost an arm and a leg to build/install.

Now I am looking for one for my C6 covertible.

So, do we have an update ?

I was thinking of buying smooth lines removable hard top that would let me run as low as 11.5 but expensive like $ 3000.00

are you sure a removable hard top would be OK? A custom roll bar will probably cost the same amount or more

Don't think the smooth line will work. Must be stock removeable. Smooth Line is not. Aftermarket

You need a roll bar. Wolfe's for the C5's meet code. If designed for the C6, you want to make sure it meets NHRA ans SCCA codes. Broomstick test as well as 5 point (I believe) minimum.

I ran 11.78 in my vert at Vette Magic, but we rented the track for the day, so the NHRA rules were relaxed. If you intend to drag the vert, or do a roadcourse, 95% of all tracks/courses will require the bar.. all about safety...

Unfortunately then tracks and car clubs wont allow it either.

Must be a four point,
two down to the frame of the car, behind the seats on the floor,
two tubes into the trunk area attached to the frame.
Diagonal brace in the Main Hoop

Horizontal brace in the main tube about shoulder level for harness to attach.

1 7/8 mild steel

2" above the drivers head

and
FIA padding with in 6" of where any body part or helmet would hit the bar.
