How often do you see the engine drag control message?
I have been seeing it almost everytime I let off the gas over 2500RPM in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. Do you guys get that much too or is it a little less? I dont remember it kicking on that much before.
From: Greater Detroit Metro MI, when I'm not travelling.
Same here. WHat is it supposed to mean? Is the ECU applying throttle because it thinks the engine might be decelerating the rear wheels too fast, in an attempt to prevent the wheels from sliding?
I've never seen that message with my 07 mn6 and I have 11000 miles on mine. If you had some info in your profile, that would give us a clue as to year and transmission.

agreed never seen it in my m6 07 and I downshift all the time
Yup, something is wrong. I now need to know what it does.
Without problems, you can easily get that message by holding your car in a low gear and rev it high, just release the gas pedal in 1st or 2nd at 5K rpm, you will see it.
its purpose is to not let the rear slide out when back off the gas. it can come on just letting off the gas going over rail road tracks, over inflated tires can make it come on,junk tires ,improper down shifting
I have only seen Engine Drag Control come on once when I shifted 3-2 instead of 3-4 accelerating on the highway. It was pretty cool how it blipped the throttle for the unintended downshift, so I tried it at an autocross once. With traction control and active handling off that must also disable engine drag control because all I got was rear wheel lockup.
On a related note, my Traction Control Active has been coming on in places it never has before and I have had two cases where the ABS light came on. At the dealer the scan said "erratic speed sensor" and they are ordering a connecto to a speed sensor at one of the rear wheels.
I would have the dealer scan the car. The last thing you want is the car second guessing you when it has bad information.
That's exactly what the car is doing. They replaced an entire hub (for the front wheel speed sensor), yet I am still popping the message. With the car not reading hte proper speed, I am getting problems with lights popping up randomly. It also keeps kicking the engine drag control consistantly as the car doesnt know what the front wheels are doing. Lastly, I have issues with the car not behaving the way I want to under heavy braking. Without another car to drive, it's hard to say what is right and what is wrong. The car will go back on Monday, but let's hope they can find something. I looked at the RF assembly. They have teh hub, a secondary harness and a primary harness. I hope they will replace teh secondary harness and see if that is it. If it isn't, they might have to replace that HUGE wire that goes to teh computer.
AHH ELECTRICAL AND BRAKE PROBLEM. #$%^&*

You are lucky you didn't see connecting rods too! Was this before or after the MGW?

This was definitely with the stock shifter -- this would be really hard to do with the MGW.
It was also under pretty easy acceleration with the shift points around 3000rpm so at least there were revs available for the engine drag control to play with.
Running road courses in comp mode or on the street with TC / AH on, I've never seen the 'drag control' warning on my MN6 equipped C6. If you see this message frequently, I'd say there's a problem with the car or with how and when you're shifting. Assuming the former I'd have the car checked.
