Default Cant decided on intakes.

I can't decided between Vararam, or the Lingenfelter Intake? I'm going more towards Lingenfelter for the name and the precut shroud, but any input or suggestions would be nice, thanks.

You can get a precut shroud from Vararam as well.

If you're asking, my vote is for Vararam.

I'd go with the LPE, I've heard of quality issues with the vararam and never heard anything but good about LPE. I'd probably take a serious look at Callaway as well.

With the same mods no intake is going to run away from a car with a different intake.

They are all going to be relatively similar.

I would go with the one with the best quality.

It's well known on the forums that the vararam is the best PERFORMING intake out there, due to the ram air effect.
People usually see the marketed 1/4 mile improvements of 3.5 tenths and 3.5 MPH.

Vararam will be your BEST bang for the buck when it comes to performance!

It has been tested so many times at the 1/4 and it works.

Vararam is the way to go for performance. I've had one on my c5 and now one on my c6

Every intake works, some just work slightly better

I've seen lots of feedback regarding the Vararam performance relative to 1/4 mile performance increases (e.g. 3-5 tenths & 3-5 mph). Has anyone been able to quantify similar results from the Linginfelter and/or Callaway intake?

That may be true, but the best ones are the bottom breathers with fresh air hitting the filter, not hot engine air trapped inside the engine bay with no way of cold air hitting the filter.

Vararam,LPE,Callaway, and Votech rammer are the only bottom fresh air breathers, the rest look pretty and suck nothing but hot air unless you cut the shroud.

Vararam is the only one that directs the airflow also, the other 3 allow the airflow to come to the filter.

Vararam is my choice.

It's an intake...not cam selection, lol.

They all do the exact same thing and are all considerably better than stock.

With ANY intake I would guess you'll atleast pick up .2 and a couple mph

The only way someone is going to pick up a half second and 5mph with an intake alone is if they are racing in different climates.

I've never heard someone get an intake on and then complain about the performance...it just happens that vararam seems to have the largest following on the board.

Even with a k&n styled intake you will see very similar results to the vararam if you add a scoop which takes all of 30 seconds.

Yes that may work, but then your just copying the Vararam`s design and that would suggest that the vararam should be copied...

It is the best design, but being the best design will not make it run away from a car with a different intake.

I've always thought it was too expensive up until recently when everyone started having big sales on the vararam. That was the point I was originally getting at.

But you're absolutely right in saying it has the best design...it only takes a set of eyes and common sense to figure out that cool air from the front is a good idea

Back when it was 400 it was insane.

~275-300 is much more reasonable for a CAI.

There are several decent 'cold air intakes.' I use the Lingenfelter high-flow air intake and I'm exceedingly pleased with the product. IMO the name "Lingenfelter" is synonymous with quality and Corvette performance.

I'm not knocking Vararam (which by all accounts is an excellent product) but I vaguely recall the Vararam Snake Charmer had some initial design problems which needed to be fixed.

IMO you can't go wrong with either Vararam or Lingenfelter (but I know which one I'd go with).
