The stability control seems to let the tires spin a little but not let you get sideways. I have experiemced the same thing except on dry roads. I like it a lot better then some other vehicles (rx8) that almost stall themselves to stop traction loss.
I had this same problem while quickly exiting a circle intersection near my house. My HUD (paiged later) showed only a .78 on dry pavement.
I am only guessing, but my RPM's were less than 2000 and I was in second gear (MZ6) - not exactling "gettin' it". I was very surprised!
It was very subtle, but not something I expected given the speed and asphalt condtions.
Made me wonder if the traction control might be a false security blanket, just when I might need it most.
I plan to take the car out to a safe place with lots of room and see what it does without the traction control on. I think everyone should know how their car handles under heavy acceleration.
My last car was a SRT8 Charger. The ESP was flatout crude in the way it managed the traction control. I like my C6 having less traction control management. Both systems will let you lose control however, with the SRT8 being more forgiving.
Yes, with AH on you can still go sideways. BUT, you maintained control of the car, didn't you? If you had turned off AH, you probably would have lost control. AH can give you the impression that you're a better driver than you are. ALWAYS leave it on for street use.
