Default Need PFadt suspension help

OK.. I went and got new Z51 sways for the base suspension. Also got the PFadt end links and poly bushings. Fantastic quality and obviously better for the car than the GM castings. Put them in the back, no problems. Four weeks later, we go into the front... not so good. I am getting a major rattle. It's not the bushings, as they are greased (and that is some of the nastiest tacky grease I have ever had to clean off my hands). But anyway, I can't figure out what is making noise at every dip.
This is the set-up for the sway bar. You can see the lube on the bushing.

This is the end link.. note the front-back orientation of the bolts.

These are the instructions (front-back)

Anyone go through this or have any clues as to what might be going wrong ?

The car drives great.. perfectly flat on corners.. it just rattles.

Thanks.

If they're tightened down all the way they should be fine but since you're experiencing some noise, give Aaron or Jordan a call @ 888.972.2464 Toll Free, they are very helpful. Just make sure there is no slop in upper and lower bolt assemblies.

Are you sure it's your sway bar that's rattling? It appears you have everything correctly installed, and if you've checked it, since 4 weeks have elapsed, maybe it's something else that's making your noise?

Just a thought. I'd look around- thoroughly check all your nuts and bolts under there, take the wheels off and check them, look for some kind of "clean spot" where something may be rubbing, etc.

Keep after it- you'll track it down.

I need to explain better. It was 4 weeks beween putting in the back bar (no rattle) to the front (rattle). The rattle appeared on the way home from the front bar install.

I'd look for witness marks. If the bar is not centered (it should self center with some driving) the endlink could touch the mount tab on the lower control arm.

Also confirm that the bar does not contact the lower control arm (it would probably happen under compression so check with the car on the ground). With the adjustable length endlinks they could be set too short and that might let the bar contact the lower control arm. You could correct this easily enough by lengthening the endlinks a few turns. The length recommendation is good for our Pfadt bars and might be a little short for the factory bars.

A good way to check this is to jack up the front of the car and remove the wheels. Set the car down with jackstands under the lower ball joints. That gives you a simulation of the car being on the ground with the wheels off.

Keep us informed.

could I pull the links and run bolts through the Pfadt and stock side-by-side to set length ? If there's no rotation on the bushings, the length should be ok ?

Yes. I don't have a set of stock links handy to measure, but if you set them to the same length as the stock ones that should eliminate link length as a possible problem.

Are the endlinks solid with no delrin or urethane bushings? Any sign of eccentric wear inside the endring bolt holes?

I have the T1 system with the Pfadt Coilovers on my car and found the rattle went away when I lengthened the endlinks. Also, make sure the endlinks are equally lengthened ( although I don't believe this is critical but it may help the rattle). Good Luck

I'll try and get some lift time this weekend to make the changes. Thanks very much for your help.

I think they are teflon. Nothing I can see, but I haven't had the car up where I could see them very well.

We got the front links re-measured and bolted back on. Looks like the problem is solved !!!

Thanks to Aaron at PFadt and the good forum brothers for the tech advice and to SF51 and the HC for some sweat and wrench-turning !!
