Toyo R888's for stock rims.
With the PS2, I'd leave things as is for now and see how things go, knowing that tires may become the limiting factor.

Not understanding what the gears on a Z51 car with an S/C isnt a reason for him to not decide for himself in a car with that combo. I think its reasonable that he experience it before knocking it. He can decide for himself.
I have 3.90's on my h&C car. What kind of tire's do you recommend, the stickiest I can get but still legal. Going to get me some ccw c10's soon, 18x11, 18x13.. need some really sticky rubber that's doable on the street.

sounds cheap and easy, doesn't it? LOL

You forgot installation, unless you are planning on doing it all yourself.

z-51 is not like having 3.90's so tried of hearing that, because some missinformed person started it . If you have drove both you would never say that

lower gears spin slower for given rpm, slower spin more traction,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

As properly stated by Rob above, Steeper (4.10's) spin slower at a given rpm than a lower numerical or taller gear. 4.10's are slower mph for all rpm's than all other available gears. At 3000 rpm's you would be doing a lower mph:21 with 4.10's than 26mph w/3.42's and thus the car with the 4.10's rehooks when the car hits the rate of rotation (21mph) vs the 3.42's 26mph to rehook. Lingenfelter covered it in his smallblock chevy book of why steeper gears rehook faster if recall. If you are spinning with 3.42's the car has to hit the higher mph to rehook as the reason.

None of this means anything if you dont have basic traction with a good tire. Gears do nothing more than play with engine rpm to make more HP at a given speed. If two cars with the same engine mods are both in the same gear and speed, the 4.10 car is at a higher rpm making more HP and thats why its faster. Both cars have to shift 3 times and run all 4 gears on a track so it isnt an issue of which car is in what gear.

H/C cars dont do all that bad and cost depends on who does the work....mine was 1700 bucks, but I agree, if you have the tire for it, there isnt much downside to the S/C platform.

EDIT: and good luck with the S/C install. Its pretty fun to do it yourself.

You may want to ask about the mileage thing though. Most H/C car owners report better than stock mileage while last I checked, S/C's are in the 24mpg range.

What kind of supercharger are we talking about here? If you go by ECS's claims, their cars get better than stock gas mileage after being supercharged. I posted on the thread explaining why that makes zero sense but plenty of people with centrifugal blowers joined in saying they get 30+MPH highway... Unless you are running a really mild cam and a ton of compression (thus making 100HP or less at the wheels than a supercharged car) your gas mileage will suffer considerably compared to stock after a heads/cam job...

Hey Spin, you still planning that trip to Boston?
