Default sound from engine, like floating valves

hey guys,
Has the LS3 had any problems similar to the LS7 with valve springs or any of the valvetrain? The reason I ask is because from around 5800-6500 it sounds like my car is slightly floating the valves. It is not too bad sounding, but for a car with 1200 miles it is not expected. Right now I have an airaid intake, Magnaflow over axle exhaust, and a cooler thermostat. So nothing that would affect the valvetrain. Please give me any suggestions or input.

Thanks,
Shaun

Does the car feel like it's still pulling @ those rpms? If not, check the carbon stickers in the intake tract. Check your oil level (could be scavenging at the pick up tube.)

There is a lot of valve clatter @ idle on the LS series. The sound comes through the AC vents on the dash usually. (Especially the driver's side by the A piller.) Nothing to be concerned about. Since you have a modded air intake, the clatter usually travels through this path to the cabin. Have to access to a dyno? This could help for an evaluation.

Carbon stickers in the intake tract? I am not following you there. I will have to search for that one. I have not checked the oil level yet however I only have around 1200 miles so I HOPE its still full... LOL.

Still has the stock rev limiter, so if thats 6700, then yes. I think that is right though. I do not think I have hit the rev limiter yet though. I normally shift right around 6400 when I am pushing it hard.

Your profile is out of date unless C5 Z06's came with an LS3. If you have an A6 and you are waiting till 6400 RPM to up shift in paddle mode you are bouncing off the rev limiter.

sorry, the profile is out of date. I do have a 2008 with the LS3. My 2003 Z06 got totaled in May when a dumb 17yr old driver decided to run a red light.
