I have a G5x3 cam and am looking at getting a set of TF heads. What would be recommended with this cam? 215 or 225? I am not wanting to swap the cam if I don't need to. I am wanting to hit very near the 500rwhp NA. If I get the TF's do I need new rockers or anything besides gaskets and bolts?
I think the TFS 225s might be the hot set up, Cartek is putting together a potent package very similar to that right now for Mike ('Braciole'), maybe give Max (908-317-4496) a call to talk a little about it.
I've thought about this mod - but with a FAST it's a pretty expensive proposition. CFI_LUZ did the mod last year with the x3 and liked it, got 500 on a dyno dynamics dyno.
I've been looking much closer at the L92/L78 option, it's quite a bit less expensive.
I went with the TFs Because I dont know anyone with a c6 that did
it before??? They make more power than ls3 heads but cost way more too.
I refuse to give up the Ported Fast 92!!! No better option out there!
If you have one you know what I mean!!
Ask Cam (Timing chain break) If he would give it up???
Id bet you would have to pry it from his cold dead hands!!!
Me too!!! Ported Fast 92 worth every penny!!
Mike
What kind of mods were done to the L92s to make that kind of power?
TF are hard to beat out of the box.
Ill post the numbers either way.
Fly cutting is less likely with the TFs
It almost mandatory with the L92s

FYI - ECS (and I am positive other tuners) has C6s out there with Trick Flow heads on them already. As a matter of fact one customer with Trick flows is in today to get gears and a converter installed.
If you think about it even my car although is a C5 it has the C6Z LS7 engine in it with trick flows.

you will need new rockers. ECS uses Harland Sharp Rockers with the Trick Flows.

If you look at the statement I made It clearly state that I didnt know anyone that has done it on a C6. Not that it was never done before.

What kind of times are you running with it?
Give me some of the mods? Cam, what done to the heads?
Gearing? auto? stick? etc??
I dont expect you to give the specs.
Mike
If you go with ecs you will need rockers
if you co with Cartek you wont ill leave it at that
Mike
I am not going to allow this to get into a Tuner Slug match so I am starting this off with every tuner has a different way of doing things. I am sure what Cartek does (and I do not know what they do) works and I am sure they can back it up with supporting data. If any of the northeast tuners didnt build reliable cars we quickly would be out of business with all of the competition here.
I can comment on the ECS setup since I run that in my personal car. I run 20 RR days per year plus some 1/4 mile and some street miles (as a note my last engine lasted 4 years of over 50 1/4 mile passes and 40 RR days before the DOUBLE ROLLER CHAIN BROKE). We also have RR customers doing about the same amount of RR track days as me. I think RR days are some of the hardest days on engine life since you are consistently between 4000-7000 rpms for 25-45 mins at a clip - 4x per day. All of the data we collect from my car and Doug@ECS car plus feedback from customers has proven that our setup works and continues to work. Remember all of ECS stuff is being tortured tested by ECS (and a few chosen customers) prior to ECS stating that is the setup they are going to recommend.
Now I deal mostly with the RR customers, but we have many more 1/4 mile customers (and yet again Doug@ECS, Chris@ECS, Marc@ECS and myself@ECS running 1/4 mile with our own cars) that are also providing feedback in that venue. Again these cars are being pushed beyond what a normal street driver would ever see thus you know that what you are getting from ECS works time and time again.

Yes I saw what you wrote and I commented that there were C6s out there with TF heads. I stated it so that if you wanted to see one before going down that route you could ask around and find one relatively close to you. It was not meant to put you in defensive mood. Sorry if it did.

I will send you some info later so that you can use that in your research, decision making process and to see how your final build compares.
The car had to get geared before it would break 1st gear loose. That turned me off from them.
ive been thinking about swapping my gears to get some better response (still have traction with the monsters in the rear) and thought it wouldn't be a problem since wheel spin isn't from gears, its from power.. now in this particular instance you witnessed gears cause spin?
