So I decided on getting a set of 4.10s on my 05. Trying to finger out what brand you guys used. I used Richmond in my stang and had great success with them. Planted to the pavement nicely. And one other quicky...I have read that some people get 21 or so mpg on the hwy with them and I drove all the way from San Diego to Austin getting about 30 mpg. I know gears affect drivability in city, but thought they were a little more generous on the hwy.
I had the stock 2.72 gears in my 05 and got 27+ MPG while driving to Connecticut from Florida and back. I then changed to the 3.42's later that year and still got 23+ MPG's while driving on I-95 without stepping on it. These are the RPM's and speed below with 2.72 gears in the car. They were a little higher for the 3.42's.
The car ran at 2000 RPM's @ 80 MPH and 1750 RPM's @ 70 MPH
This was WITH A P-SERIES PROCHARGER ON IT !!!!
I don't think you will see the 30 MPG's with the 4.10 in there

I think you mean 2.73 gears, not 2.72s.

Keep in mind he has the 6 speed manual (I assume?) so the net effect of the rear gears is not as bad as it is with our automatics...I have heard of stock/near stock late model manual Corvettes getting nearly 31mpg on the highway at up to 65mph+.
I lost 2 mpg with my 4.10 gears. 2005 MN6. Best mileage is around 28. Don't know the brand, but ECS did the ring & pinion installation.
Got my car back this afternoon from Livernois Motorsports, 410 gears, 26-27 highway(75-85 mph) from Dearborn, Mi. to Flint, Mi. 80 miles. Got 28-30 w/342's. Only a few miles in the city, but looks like it went up to 16.5 from 15.5. Have only had them 3 hours and I'm already talking about them. Car always was fun to drive and now it's more fun.
.
They make a very noticible difference. And now you can actually use 6th gear!
Very noticible difference. Have only 100 miles so I'm still breaking them in. I did get with it twice and 7000 rpm came up real quick in first and second.
thanks for the info guys. now as far as what brand or installer. i am in austin so getting out to michigan or pennsylvania is kinda out of the question. someone has also told me that it is better to buy the carrier with the gears and get it installed instead of just the gears. anyone heard of that?
motive gears...not many shops can set up the gears in a c5/6 diff, I believe LG is the only one in DFW...some will send it out to have it done, still cheaper than buyin the whole diff...I lost about 1mpg overall, ~2 on the highway(depending on speed) and gained ~1 around town, if you upshift to the next gear and aren't gettin on it more!
