Just purchased my first vette. It's a base 2008. So far I'm loving it. The first modifications I want to do is a cat-back exhaust system as well as a cold air intake. Can anyone recommend good ones?
For the exhaust you really need to hear them in person. Everybody has their own taste. I went with the gm off road which I believe is the same as borla stingers.

Alot of people will throw out the VaraRam intake suggestion right away, but I would do your research. I've seen more than a few threads of VaraRam owners who sucked water into their engine, took the intake apart to find dirt on the wrong side of the filter, and were just generally disgusted by the build quality of the VaraRam. After all of the horror stories, I've decided on the Vortex Rammer. It's a little more expensive which is why you don't hear about it as much, but I've heard the build quality is excellent and better yet that it truly seals to the shroud so that dirt doesn't get up into the engine bay.
Just consider that exhaust is not only about sound, but also the efficiency of evacuation. A high air-flow exhaust adds to the performance of the engine. Not all exhaust systems are alike. Do your research

There are a number of good cold air systems on the market from K&N, to VaraRam, all have their good points about them.
For the home user, the K&N is probably the easiest to install.
As for cat-back systems, take some time and try and listen to as many possible combination that you can in real life to see what is going to fit you the best.
If you have any questions, I'm always glad to help in any way I can.
