It happens when you start moving, but go slow and turn a lot. Like when you are leaving a parking garage and have to go very slow and turn a lot. Normal behavior not to worry.

Hey Guys, I got the traction control calibrating warning while going through a solum in the top part of second gear. No other warnings.
No such thing as Traction Control Calibrating.
Active Handling calibrates after each engine start. The car has to be driven in a straight line above a certain speed for a couple hundred feet. This gives the EBCM time to monitor the steering sensor for minimal movement and to check all 4 wheel speeds to see if they are proper for straight line movement (in turns the wheel speeds on opposite sides of the car and from front to rear are different). Once it sees those conditions it remembers the steering sensor output as being the straight ahead condition.
If it doesn't get a situation where it can calibrate within a certain time it displays Active Handling Calibrating.
Bill, if this message is displayed from time to time, could it be a sign of potential or intermittent failure? I have developed AH/TC/ABS issues in the past few weeks and remember getting this message several months ago. I'm trying to figure out if it's a wheel sensor, steering sensor, or EBCM issue.
I was busy paying attention to where I was going and just noticed the info. MAYBE it was active handling calibrating. I was about half a mile into a fairly tight course. When the run was done I was expecting to see the little tire warning light had activated but all was normal, I guess....
I had one more run and a 30 minute drive home. Everything seems okay.

The message is almost always displayed when the proper condtions to allow calibration haven't been met. Driving through a parking lot can delay calibration due to constantly turning the steering wheel and not hitting the proper speed. Wheel speed sensor would shut down all 3 functions of the EBCM so it probably isn't a wheel speed sensor unless you are getting warning messages for all 3 at the same time. Steering sensor is more AH related but TC does use it as well. The early non AH C5s used steering sensors for TC. Depending on the failure the EBCM can also cause problems for all 3 functions. The only way to know for sure is to get the codes checked with a scanner that can read ABS codes. Can't really do any diagnostics on these cars without knowing the codes.

Thanks Bill.
Are the codes stored? Each time I have gotten the Service AH/TC/ABS messages, they go away when the ignition is cycled. No SES light and my basic scanner will not read them. I took it to Auto Zone but their scanner won't read it either.
Maybe I should take it to my tuner to get to the bottom of it with HP Tuners... Cleaned up all the wheel speed sensors this weekend and tightened up some connections to the frame and the trio of messages hasn't returned yet In 100 miles of driving but I'm not confident that will be a long term fix.
