FYI new MA. emissions test
FYI to all my MA. friends our glorious state of Taxachusetts (MA.) has decided that on OCT.1 all cars new, trucks, etc. will now be plugged into when you go for a sticker. This is supposedly to check for emissions compliance, so watch out if you throw any codes.
These a**holes at the DEP/RMV worry about new cars while we get clobbered with emissions from the Midwest (sorry guys, prevailing winds you know). The little guys (cars) will always get screwed first while Big Business sends the country into chaos. A well tuned, even tweaked car should still be fine, just putting the info out here.

If its the same as PA as long as the check engine light is not on the scanner won't pick up any problem and you are OK. I have a supercharger and headers and still pass without any trouble.

yea it is actually better than the sniff test as far as I'm concerned. I had my other car tuned to turn off all emissions control equipment so no lights were thrown so I passed no problem. I had a completely different motor, blower, no egr, air injection pump, or cats, passed no problem although the garage smelled like raw fuel. =)

Yes, I've passed before with modded cars including my C6 just last May 08, my Z (headers, CAI) is due this Nov.
I do agree that if you have no CEL you'll most likely have no issues and I don't think a visual will be part of the inspection.
I guess I just hate the constant deluge of bureaucracy intruding upon everyday life. ...and YES the USA is the greatest country in the world

You can still fail without a CEL light.The plug in test checks for the CEL AND emmision ready test.Alot of cars fail the test when they mod them,then not have them tuned correctly.
The end story is that a tuner like myself can get ANY combination to pass. My personal Cammed/Turbo'd Avalanche passes and the truck has NO 02 sensors or MAF on the vehicle.

thanks, Don True I have been down that emission ready road and it's a PITA. When we discussed this last week you brought up the ER fact, so it's nice to know you're just down the road from me.
