That sucks man, its odd that some guys have no issues with over 500rwhp and others have problems with bolt-ons. You just bought a used stock replacement A6 didn't you?

yes, and the thing has less than a 1000 miles in my car.. So it has a total of 4500.. I don't get the no reverse thing,, It goes into reverse, you can feel it, but then it does not want to go, like it is slipping..I have the other one in the back of my truck, I just got it from the shop the other day, I was going to put it in the garage and wait until rpm got there stuff together, but now i Don't know what i am going to do.

VERY close to turning car back to stock... i am SO TIRED of working on it, Or the lack of being able to work on it because of things like this that require shop ours to R/R it..

Just out of curiosity, what kind of HP are you pushing with your car and that nitrous? Sorry about the tranny problems....

All forward gears work? Do the paddle shifts work also? Im pretty sure the tcm has a pressure sensor for reverse. Not sure though. What did you end up doing when you had a problem getting it started?

I would yank the tcm from the other trans, swap the tcm in the car now and put fresh fluid in it....just a shot though since few guys have valuable experience with the A6's.

These cars are a bitch to work on. If mine gives me problems, Im going back to a 3.4 Whipple Cobra and lots of boost. We will see, I dont want a fragile car. My KB Cobra took everything I could throw at it and never missed a beat.

Unfortunately, sometimes it takes something like this to push an owner into that direction.

Good luck whatever you decide. Its always sad when mods go bad.

here is the thing, the car has not seen ANY NOS since i put this trans in..

the car makes about 540 at the wheels with the D1 and 5 pounds of boost. I had a little pulley on it and it was making over 700 and the other trans lasted for a long time..

I just drove it again, and it drives 100% fine in forward.. Maybe it is just low on trans fluid and the reverse pressure thing is it, but it doesn't leak, so where would it have went? I don't know..

The car is just driving me nuts, i can honestly say i have not had a problem free week with the car in MONTHS..

I have calmed down, but i am still frustrated.. I don't understand this STUPID *** TRANSMISSION! and i can't figure out how these cars have been out 2 fricken years and NOBODY CAN DO A DAMN THING!!

I have the resources to buy whatever it would take to make this stupid thing right (as most modded vette owners do) So WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM!!!! Chuck from COW, he is the tuning master, right? why the hell haven't him and RPM gotten together and fixed this f^&*ing transmission!

It does not take a ROCKET scientist to figure out that if they would get off there asses and do it, they would have the MARKET CORNERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERY guy with a A6 vette, not to mention ALL THE NEW CARS (CAMARO, CTS-V) with the 6 speed auto will need this help, I guess this is my cry out to them, for the sake of all us A6 guy's,,, GET THIS **** WORKED OUT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU WILL HAVE A LINE OUT THE DOOR OF GUY"S LIKE ME!!!!!

I am only 7 hours away i think...somebody get on this..

I even have a spare trans to let you use, I would PAY FOR ALL the parts, i am not looking for a free ride, just a fixed one..

I'm certainly not a A6 expert but a couple of things come to mind.
#1
Hydra-Matic 6L80 Transmission Information
Type:
Six speed rear-wheel-drive, electronically controlled, automatic overdrive transmission with torque converter clutch. Clutch-to-clutch architecture with integral electro/hydraulic control module.
Maximum engine torque:
430 lb-ft (583 Nm)

#2
When you replaced the transmission did you flush the cooler lines and REPLACE the cooler?

#3
Are you monitoring the ATF temperature?

Sounds like you may be well beyound the design limits of the transmission. Depending on what failed, you could be sending residue/trash from your first tranny into your second from a dirty cooler. Tranny temps are probably even more important now that they have stuck the control unit inside. Just some thoughts...........

I am not going to get into it, but the system was flushed out.. And i know we are all way beyond the desighn limits, but If they can get a
4l60 hold 1000 hp, they should be able to do something with this thing..

Of course, you've checked the fluid level correctly. Right?

shift solonoid is stuck, according to hp tuners..

I ran the car today and took it to my shops dyno day, it did not effect forward movement, so i said the hell with it and ran it..

made the same 546 on 5 pounds... reverse only works at idle, give it gas and it just slips...

Thats what I thought. Use the TCM from the other trans. Or better yet, get a Tuned TCM from Chuck COW and really enjoy the car. Its really easy to swap, I did a thread with pics, very easy.

How about going to a ZF stick tranny? They should hold your power level. (With the right clutch, that is.)

Too bad GM makes such an inferior product that someone can overwelm it so easliy and cheaply (sarcasm for you dunderheads.) Maybe it's time to go into the "heavy duty" driveline business. Only to get beat down in price by the corp. bean counters. I guess we'd have shoddy products based on the lowest bid...again. Hmmm...(more sarcasm for you dense individuals.)
