If it becomes available, it will be showcased at SEMA next week. I will be there and hopefully will see it there. No doubt it will most likely be the most expensive GM crate engine ever
According to GM, the engine comes fully dressed, with an ignition system, exhaust manifolds and supercharger, and only needs an external oil tank and coolant tank (for the charge cooler), an ECU and wiring harness
It won't be that hard but it won't be a cake walk either. The LS9 takes a differenent PCM than the current LS7 cars, also it has a totally different fuel pump and pump control circuitry. It can be done, it won't be cheap but it is definitely do-able. All of the connectors and terminals are available so building a harness for a retrofit is not that hard, but it is time consuming.
I have already purchased a ZR1 instrument cluster and a PCM to play with The cluster should be relatively easy to drop in place as all of its signals comes to it via the CAN network communications from the PCM and BCM. Which lucky for us should talk easily seeing its on its own GM CAN network within the car.
LS9 would be nice to have for a collector, but our Procharged LS2s are making more power than the Stock Blown LS9. It's the whole car concept that makes the ZR1 the "King". The LS9 is still an LS motor.

Thats true, I just want the factory controls for boost! No more BS with dealing with aftermarking tuning solutions when its done with GM's multi-millions of dollars of R&D.
Is the clutch available too? The crank has a greater number of bolts than the other LS engines requiring the use of the ZR1's clutch or at least it's flywheel.
Price is the next factor. A warrantied forged 6 liter with any S/C will be less than what GM wants for the current 427/LS7.
Still, the ZR1 is an amazing vehicle and it has a great engine.
For the lucky guy that drops that kind of green into a daily driver with a warranty and the new car scent, its all the best auto's have to offer.

Spin the clutch is available, the crank has 9 bolts vs 6 bolts, and the pressure plate is several MM smaller in diameter. It would be nice if someone would come out with a LS7 flywheel that would accept the LS9 disc and pressure plate, it would be great to be able to use a GM LS9 clutch on our LS series engines seeing how there is so many problems with the aftermarket twin discs not to mention the shear expense.

If someone makes this LS7 flywheel that accepts the LS9 disc and pressure plate they would make a bundle !
Why buy the whole engine when GM will be selling the S/C for 3,500 retail?? I know what I'm waiting for.. Would be a hell of alot easier.
Correct, actually Kenne Bell's 2.8H would dominate that little Eaton and be a ton of fun for far less coin, as if that even matters with modding C6's. Turbos are far better.
