Default Adhesive for the VR

Steve is sending me a new top and some new rubber molding for the bottom of the VR. I know it has adhesive on the molding, but I wanted to add some more to keep it from not moving. What adhesive would be best for the job?

Good question. I was thinking about some weather stripping adhesive. Anyone have experience with that ?

I took off the sticky tape and used epoxy which will hold but will be hard to remove. Silicone rubber may work.

I used black RTV silicone. Works very well. Mine has been on for over 1 year.

While on the subject of Vararam.. I took a piece of "Coarse" screen & cut it to cover the bottom of the front of my car.. its about 12" deep X 30" from left to Right..

Now I plan on cutting a piece if the same screen (app 1/4 square holes) and putting it in-front of the actual Vararam intake (the 6x8") thats directly in the center..of the grill

I plan on spray painting the screen flat black, cutting it and putting it directly over the front of the Vararam opening.. I'm sure it won't even be noticeible...

My thoughts are it will prevent leaves (and we have plenty now here in Westchester) from going up into the Vararam, & I won't have to take it apart just to remove leaves..

I did the same on my 96 and it worked like a charm..

I have a RaceMesh grill on mine which hopefully should do the same thing.

I received the new Gen 2 top and rubber seals today. As you can see, the sides are thicker and shouldn't bow. The filter fits so tight, it was tough to get in.

I pulled off the thin two sided tape from the rubber seals of the top and bottom and used construction adhesive to glue them on. The two sided tape can not withstand the heat and the seals will move. If you have a Gen 1 VR, get a Gen 2 top and new seals asap.

RTV is probably the best choice. Silicone caulk will not stick to this type of plastic.

It does. I have a Racemesh on mine and it stops all the big stuff from getting in the VR.

Good idea. I didn't even think about that.. I have some at home. I'm going to re-do mine this weekend just to be sure they're sealed in place.

IMO, you should still be able to remove those seals, as they are a maintenance item. I wouldn't adhere them so much as to not be able to remove them when that time comes.

When that time comes, I'll scrape off the glue, and glue new ones on. Due to the heat, anything less than a good adhesive, and they are gonna move.

I just went to their web site.. & they are asking $95 for a C6 + $25 EXTRA if you want it black ?

I bought screen in Ace Hardware for $6 and a can of flat black spray paint for $4.95 + $1.50 for stainless Steel screws...
saved about $100

I have some industrial adhesive. I have 3M VHB as well as some other stuff that is INSANE!! I got it from my dad, I wish I knew who made it as that stuff makes 3M's VHB look like scotch tape
