Default Caliper Piston Dust Boots Destroyed

One day at the track (135 miles at VIR in four sessions) and the dust boots on my stock 2005 Z51 look like they have partially disintegrated. I have only had the car a couple months and I am sure it has never been on the track in its 31,000 mile history before.

So is this a problem?

It's not a problem if you get them replaced. They're there for a reason.........or were you asking if you had a problem because they didnt hold up to 135 miles of track driving??????

I have never seen an actual race caliper with dust boots on them that I can recall for that exact same reason. They just will not hold up to the extreme temperatures of on track use. Some will last longer than others depending on the caliper design, pad thickness, piston design, and cooling routed to the brakes.

Time to rebuild the calipers, flush the fluid, inspect rotors for cracks, new pads ... lots of maintenance needed with track use. Clutch fluid probably is toast too.

Mainly I was asking because I don't see how any boots are going to hold up in those conditions. And I wonder how much harm will be done to the pistons if no boot is present. I have another track day on 01 December.

I have Z06 air ducts installed up front and the air temp was only around 50 degrees on Monday. Still they melted away...

Wondering if we can get a little more info on this as I was changing back to my street pads after a hpde weekend and noticed my dust boot was toast to. Should they be replaced right away. how much harm will it cause not to replace,as it seems there will be a failure after every track weekend.

Some times its the driver, take some lessons, the bettter you get the less you'll use the brakes. Adjust the nut behind the wheel It will pay off in the long run.

To make my brakes last on the 'Ring I added high temp fluid, DRM ducts and stainless steel pistons, and driving lessons.
