My car: 100% Stock 2007 C6 Z51 M6 with 4,000 miles
Lately I have noticed that my car surges when I hold a gear at low-mid RPM's. I also think this issue is causing the slight idle quality issues I thout were mis-fires a few months back also.
When driving normally at operating temperature if I hold third gear and keep at a steady MPH I can feel the car surge. While this hapens I can also see a small drop in RPM's on the tach. I have scanned the car and there are zero misfires while the surge is present.
It reminds me of when tried a K&N filter on my Cobalt SS Supercharged. But I am stock down to the paper filters on my C6.
If you had a misfire your check engine light would flash. You may have a loose sensor on your maf or a loose spark plug wire. I would start going over all your connections and try to find a loose one before you go and take it in thinking its a major problem. Had a surging problem with a rustang I used to own and it turned out to be a loose plug wire. Hope this helps.
you spoke to it being stock but have you done anything lately? like air filter change or anything under the hood for that matter?
A vacuum leak or intake tube leak can give you alot of issues so i would start there then keep it basic (plugs, coil, wire etc..) a "slight" missfire alot of times wont turn on the CEL but will show up on a scan. good luck, paul
