Default adding memory seats and mirrors

I have a '08 2LT and was wondering how difficult it would be to retrofit the memory seats.

The rare times my wife drives my vette makes it a pain when I get back in.

Thanks

I think it would be very expensive, and very, very difficult.

I assume your seats don't have side airbags, heaters, adjustable lumbar and bolsters, and I don't know whether you have the 6-way power position adjustments or not. So, even if you are able to add the memory function, you won't be able to hook up and use the airbags or heater and probably not the lumbar and bolster bladders.

You'll probably need to get a set of seats with the seat controller that will work with the memory functions, and you'll need to buy the panel that fits on the door with the memory buttons.

Then you'll need to get the BCM to recognize that you now have the memory feature. This may be able to be done fairly easily with a Tech 2 at the dealership, but you'll have to have all the stuff hooked up correctly for the BCM to even be able to send the proper signals to everything.

However, I really think that it will be really, really, REALLY difficult to add in the proper stuff and then get the BCM to work it all properly.

The Z06 does not have a power passenger seat or the lumbar/bolster bladders. Several of us have upgraded by purchasing a set of C6 seats with airbags, etc. and have installed them in the car. My Z06 already had the memory functions, etc., so all I needed to do was to run a power wire to the wire harness connector under the passenger seat to power the seat motors for a full power adjustable passenger seat and adjustable lumbar and bolsters both sides.

I think to add memory to your car would be impractical, but YMMV!!

My 2lt package came with the 6 way power seat as well as the airbags in the seats. does this change the feasibility?

Well....that may make it a lot easier. You'll save $1500 if you don't need a set of power seats.

Take a look at this:

Part #27 is the seat memory module and it costs $182 MSRP and $108 discounted. I guess your existing wiring harness can be plugged into it, but I'm not sure.

You'll also need to buy the panel with the memory switches for the door like in this picture:

I guess the wiring harness is already in there to plug-n-play, but again, I'm not sure.

Good luck with the project!!!

Does that mean to switch from driver 1 to 2 you have to manually press a button that is wired into the door harness? I was hoping it sensed which fob was active like my STS and adjusted the seat automatically.

On the manual trans cars you have to push the button on the door. On automatic cars I belieive it does it when it senses the Fob #.

I would be curious to know whether cars that didnt come with the memory seats have all the harnesses in place to add it.
It may be worth poking around a little bit in your car to see if they are there.

Put a much of mods on the care so she won't want to drive it and then you won't need to worry about adjusting the seat. That worked for me.

The seat memory module is actually inside the drivers seat, not under it.

Yeah....I guess this would be called "inside":

The top picture shows the complete seat with just the seat skins removed, and you can see the control boxes tie-wrapped underneath the wire/spring thingies that make up the seat bottom.

The bottom pic shows the seat adjuster (rails) after separating it from the seat bottom frame. I had to clip a couple of tie-wraps to release the control boxes - the small tan one is the seat heater module, and the large black one is the seat controller with the seat memory in it.
