The oil cooler on the C6Zs keeps the oil temp well below the coolant temp. What you said is right for cars without an oil cooler. I have never seen over 180 oil temp on my 08Z even in hot weather and the oil temp climbs slowly also. On my C5Z oil temps over 200 were common.

I thought about putting a cover over the oil cooler but that is no easy task to get to the cooler.
