Default C6 Instrument Panel Noise

Has anybody experienced a buzzing or mechanical noise coming from their C6 instrument panel when temperatures are lower, say below 65 or so? I have such a noise in my 2008. Thoughts?

Is it an itermittent mechanical sound lasting 1 or 2 sec? If so, then it is likely the automatic climate control opening or closing some of the baffles (took me a while to figure out that one)

Default C6 Instrument Panel Noise

The noise continues for 5 to 10 minutes until the car warms up. It comes from the area of the instrument cluster. Almost like a nylon gear operating...like you might get from a mechanical speedometer. But this noise starts as soon as the engine cranks and continues as noted above whether moving or not.

I haven't gotten that sound, rather a small buzz/rattle whatever. I was able to find it coming from the HUD surround. A slight pull on it, it goes away. Now another annoying sound, another slight rattle, sure sounds like its coming from the right rear speaker, where in fact, it was coming from the NAV display...just slightly vibrating when the car is on slight rough roads.

I have the exact same thing. I narrowed it down to the underside of the instrument cluster cover. If I'm driving down the road when it's buzzing, and push up on the underside of it with a finger it goes away. It doesn't feel loose, but that is most definitely where it's coming from. It seems to be intermitent, happening moreso lately, and does not seem to be dependant on whether or not the car is warmed up.

I get a noise like that but its more in the radio area like the nav is booting up or something. Much more pronounced when cold.

My car used to make a similar noise. It seemed to come from the vacuum fluorescent DIC display itself, and went away after a few minutes. The problem has since gone away entirely.

Default C6 Instrument Panel Noise

My girlfriend said: "It sounds like a geiger counter".... that would be the best description! No amount of pushing on dash panels makes it go away. It just finally does after the car warms up a bit. It almost sounds like the noise is coming from the dash opening on the right side of the steering column...the little slotted opening like a speaker or microphone?

It's the fan on the cabin temp sensor, just behind the slotted area of the instrument panel. I guess it isn't a high quality design (stuff like this isn't usually) and sometimes it buzzes. The fan is there to actually move some air across it, I've seen these type sensor fans in many cars.

I was pretty alarmed the first time it happened (it was so lound) on my new expensive car. It rarely makes noise, but sometimes does for whatever reason (bounced around by the ride maybe).

i have this too. a finger lift up just like you eliminates it. thininking i might wedge a pices ob black plastic or cardboard in the groove to provide a permanet "finger effect"

I do, but it is only when it is above 100 degree's. Nothing when the car is cold.

OK, this noise is loud and consistent now. time to do something about it. in my case, i'm going with TLK's assessment and assuming its the motor on the fan that runs air by the cabin air temperature sensor. my question is, short of replacing it, is there anything i can do to to motor to get the buzzing to stop - like add oil or something? before i tear into my dash, i want to know if i need a new motor or if i can try to fix the problem without buying a new one. appreciate any advice.
