My pin worked loose as well. That was the manufacturing defect that we cited as my failure.

I agree that it appears to be a defective chain. Last I heard or saw, there are no master links on them just to insure they don't come apart.

I was also under the impression that there is no master link, but for some reason this link is a significantly darker color than the rest. This lead me to believe that it was a "master" link somehow. If not, then maybe the stress of bending changed the color or it was always a different color? Maybe it was a defective part?
