Just lost Reverse!!!!!
Well, just lost reverse on my 2005 6speed 1st thru 6th work fine. And to make it more confusing, was out with my wife, running some errands and had put the car in reverse several times before it went south.
And to make things even worse, on the 2005 6 speeds we have to put the car in reverse with the hand brake on or the car won't shut down. Had to disconnect the battery so the car would shut down and then restart in the morning so I can take it to the shop.

Hope things aren't too bad...if you don't mind, how many miles do you have? I ask because I have 70k-plus miles on my '05 and I am within 6500 miles of my GMPP expiring but I haven't had any problems with my trans.

almost 51,000. I have a Callaway short shifter, not the OEM shifter. I just had to replace the shifter housing, it was vibrating terribly. Something may have shifter or gotten loose. Hopefully it is a linkage issue that needs corrected and not replaced.
I'm sure its the linkage. This happened to Steve a couple of weeks ago, exact same problem. On Steve's car, the female fitting where the shifter ball fits had moved on the shift rod back to the transmission from hard track shifting - it has a bolt and can move on the shift rod back to the transmission. It was an easy fix, hope it's the same thing for you.

Me too
However I did something really stupid. When I disconnected the battery, I only did one post, the positive. Guess what, battery was dead this morning. Guess I picked the wrong post to disconnect :o

I have a 35% MGW shifter and have not had any issues with it but I will keep this in the back of my mind if it ever happens to me.

Disconnecting either of the posts should prevent any draining of the battery. Both connections are necessary for electricity to get out of the battery.

I remember when I had some catbacks replaced. Could not get the car in reverse after installation. Seemed like the linkage was bent or something. Turns out the REVERSE LOCKOUT FUSE #15 a 25 AMP FUSE was blown. Check it out.

You beat me to this answer.
By lost reverse, do you mean you can get it in gear (sorta) and when you engage the clutch the car doesn't move? Does it grind when you try to get it in gear? Check the silly fuse first!
