I actually have 2 C5 half shafts on my car and there was one section that was thinner on the C6 shafts. The thinner section was about 1 1/2 inches long. My C6 shafts broke at the base of the spindles that go through the hub and not at this thinner section.
I havent heard the Z06 shafts were any better. I got the C5 shafts because they are proven on low 9 sec drag cars. $250 each from Gene.
Its not what you asked for but maybe just as relevant. I hope it helps.

Guy that's what I noticed too. Then why do all the stageII diffs have c6z06 halfshafts in them, like they're an upgrade?

Stage 2 diffs have hardened output shafts. Those arent the half shafts that we are speaking about which connect the diff to the hubs that hold on your wheels.
You are mistakingly calling output shafts, halfshafts. Totally different item. You need hardened output shafts inside the diff.....I also snapped two external half shafts to the wheels.

Your right that what I meant just didn't type it, forgive me as it's late...I didn't mean to confuse, so the output shafts have been made stonger? The number of splines are the same...
