I have went as far as replacing the clamps to keep the X-pipe to the header collector, still did not work!! as far as the leaks they are in the tubes and the welds around the collector,
One option is to have your exhaust shop spot weld the pipe joints with a Mig welder in addition to the clamps.As for leaks,the Mig can also be used to seal,but it's permanent! You may not want that.Slip type clamps don't always do a good job but they supposedly(Please correct me if I'm wrong) make it easier to disconnect/remove the pipes because they don't crimp the metal like the compression type or commonly known as U-clamps.Also,because the slip type don't crimp the pipe,they don't distort pipe ID,ensuring maximum exhaust flow with minimum restriction or back pressure.It's a compromise in the name of performance, also,APITA!
