Default Cam advice

I'm looking for a cam for my 06 LS2 MN6 coupe. I would prefer to just drop it in, without any piston work.

I also want good low-end power & torque, AND lumpy.

I was looking at the G6X3 by LG as I love the sound

Any recommendations or advice?

thanks in advance

Denis

The cam you are looking at will not work with out piston work as its pretty large. If you want a good lope go with something that has between 111 and 114 lsa. If you want to stay with stock springs, heads, etc you will have to go with a cam that has a smaller lobe and lift profile i.e. 224/224 with a .580 or so lift. Just an example. I would call one of the forum vendors and they will be able to give you an exact fit.

I chose a Crane 228/232, 600/600, 112, +5 for the reasons that you cited. I relied on numbers, advice and the testimony of people who used this cam. The cam works for me. I don't have the graph with me but the RWTQ was 340 or 350 at 2,500 with a peak of 425 at 5,000. I also have 1 7/8 inch headers and a FAST 90, neither of which helps torque at 2,500. The TFS 225's might help at 2,500. I don't know.

The car idles at 975 with a definite "lumpy" sound. The +5 moves the torque curve to the left. The flip side is that the peak power is less. Mine only produces 460RWHP at 6,100 with a 12.6 AFR. A cam with a more aggressive lobe ramp and a 13.0 AFR should make 475-480 RWHP with these cam specs and other part choices. From a prior tune I know that the peak actually occurs at 6,300 but I don't ever do that, so I asked the tuner to not to either. He just stopped at 6,100 instead of 6,000.

I don't race. I just enjoy those torquey, 2,000-4,500 RPM dashes in 2nd and 3rd on the street and the lumpy cam sound. Carefule throttle application is required to avoid wheespin and 1st is useless at WOT. I hope this helps.
