Default Cleaning the Glass

Hi All,

I hope this is the right place to ask this question....

I am trying to figure out why I am having trouble cleaning the glass on my 08 C6 - no matter what I do the glass is streaked, smudged, and just not right. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I bought one of those ultimate cloth deals from southern car parts here. I seems to work pretty good. You just use the cloth with water.

I bought an used Audi with glass like that. My theory is it had armor all or a similar silicone oil based plastic wipe on it.
I used "Invisible Glass" and wiped it with a microfibre cloth twice; it got rid of all the smudges. I expect any other similar ammonia based grease cutting glass cleaning product such as "Windex" to work.

I agree with Powerlabs if the streaking is visible all the time. You could go over the glass with IPA (Rubbing alcohol) then follow up with a good glass cleaner.
I had streaks that only appeared when it rained. I changed wipers 2x, no help. So I bought a bottle of DP glass restorer.
http://www.autogeek.net/dp515.html It made a night and day difference in the windshield! I now clean my windows with it once in the spring and once again in the fall. Works great, and it doesn't take much. I am still on the original bottle 3 years later.

try denatured alcohol, this is the car painters friend, will strip wax, tar, sap and not hurt your paint, would cover the dash though

I've always used this on my show vettes. But the REAL trick is to use NEWSPAPER with it. Nothing has worked better for me. The newsprint will come off on your hands, but wait until you see the glass! An old timer with his '59 Caddy was at a show next to me complaining that he couldn't get his glass clean for years. So I handed him a few pages of newpaper, crumpled it up, sprayed it with Stoner glass cleaner and BAM, like new. He couldn't believe it. Just bring hand cleaner!

I've heard this before, but never remember to try it. Can anyone explain why it works better?
