Default C-6 Tire recommendations

My 08 is coming up on 30,000 and the O.E. tires need to be replaced. Are there any recommendations from the forum on replacement tires? I'd appreciate any and all opinions.

More details. Driving habits. Track the car? Climate you drive in? Looking for wear or grip? Blah, blah, blah.

Anyone like the Firestone wide oval runflats?

Michelin PS2's are a good choice.

OP didn't state, but you can probably assume that he's a non-tracking safe driver from the fact that his runflats lasted 30,000.

I've had a few different sets of tires on my C6 ('05 Vert - Z51) ...

OEM's were OK ... had that feeling of security with the run flat tech.

I then had 3.5 set's of the Toyo Proexes T1R's (3 Fronts / 4 Backs) ... I found that my first set was amazing! Grip in the dry and wet ... quiet and very responsive ... I never had them on the track ... unless the drag strip qualifies. I found though, that by my third set, the compound had seemed to change ... I was not getting the grip that I had become accoustomed too ... I wonder if Toyo had reformulated to gain more life, and in doing so, sacrificed the grip and responsiveness ... still an excellent tire!

Just finished my first set of Michelin PS2's ... Love em! ... I'm having a second set installed as I type this I had 8 track days on my first set (7 at Mosport and 1 at Cayuga) ... two trips to the Sebring race, Mid-Ohio, Mosport and Petit Le Mans ... one trip to Vancouver and one to Halifax .... I live just outside of Toronto ... so you can see how I put close to 40,000 kms on this one set of tires!

I tried a set of Perreli Winter Tires ... very good winter handling ... I even took the car out after a couple of major snow storms, and she never got stuck or got sideways without my meaning too ... highly recommended!

This car is a daily driver in Northern Calfornia...wet from Nov - Apr, then very dry. No track time...moderately aggressive driver.

Cheers,

If you want to stick with runflats on a daily driver I would recommend the Michelin ZPs. Fantastic in the rain.

I can strongly recommend the Firestone Wide Oval run-flats. No complaints and I drive them pretty hard.

I'm guessing you've got a lot of relaxed highway miles. I only got 15,000 out of my OEM Goodyears with my driving. Firestone's seem to be wearing much better.

Firestone Wide Ovals. Less $$$ than GY runcraps, quiet, stick well, great mileage.

Regular PS2's ... at the time I bought them, the ZP were still being tested.

I'm leaning towards the Nitto Invo's. I've been quoted 930 installed and all the reading on tires seems very positive.

Good luck deciding.

Mark,
I'm ready to order a Grand Sport. Becuase I live in Ohio and drive my car every day, I need winter tires. Could I use C6 wheels with Pirelli 240 Sottozero winter tires on it? My dealer's service tech says "yes" as long as the overall wheel diamters are the same to preserve the electronic settings. I spec'd out 245/40-18's and 285/35-19's. They're within 0.1-0.2 inches of stock Goodyears.

Yo, My corvette 05' bought for business travel, currently have 41k on it and drive it like it was stolen. Got most mileage due to the fact that I have to travel 100+ miles to appointments, and actually got 22K on the original GY runflats. Read independent reviews and it was slanted to the Firestone runflats. They are outstanding and I now have 41K on them. (I replaced GY'ers at 22K) The Firestone's are super quiet, perform, and at this point I can't tell much wear. scept for rears, which I like to step on on occasion......Russ

By the way, tire rack was half the price of local Belle tire and think shipping was free. My buddy at Belle still installed them for $80.00 on off. And the runflat firestones spank the Gy's all the way around. Look at independent results + they're half or so the cost............Russ
