Can anyone explain why it would cost $11,500 to supercharge a 2006 LS2 Corvette? Using a Procharger P1SC? Is this even possible (with any combination of extras) or do I have "fool" written on my forehead?
I got my A&A kit on sale for $4500 (normally like 5500). Was quoted $2250 for the installation and tune. That puts the total at $6750, for (depending on the amount of boost you choose to go with) 550rwhp - 600rwhp.
Also, fill out your profile so we know where you are.
I was actually expecting it to cost between 7 and 8 thousand dollars (9 tops). But the shop owner said "to do it right" I needed a slew of other modifications. (Bear in mind that I already have the air intake, headers, xpipe and exhaust modifications). He was rattling off a list of other things I needed but I sensed he was just trying to do an information overload... as I am admittedly a novice (not a complete one, but a novice nonetheless) when it comes to engine mods.

Get a written quote from them and then post it up here...
For just a basic s/c install, I would say $8k would probably be within the "appropriate" range, but definitely not $11,500.
Do you have a manual or an automatic? If manual, have you upgraded your flywheel?
Is there a certain HP number you were trying to hit?
Does your quote include meth injection (not necessary but it helps keep your temps lower, and if they're tuning to give you a certain HP number they can tune for meth as well, since meth can increase your HP)?

What kind of tires are you running? You'll need to replace your runflats for sure if you go s/c.

Maybe paying to forge your short block? That plus headers & fuel system. Who knows..............
Most likely that is what they are trying to charge you for. They are probably including parts and teardown/rebuild costs for a forged bottom end. All of which are not really necessary on an LS2 or LS3 running <10 psi of boost.

If it includes the forging .... its not a bad price at all.

Thanks everyone. I WILL get an estimate and post it up here at a later date. (I'm having something else done at this shop within a couple of weeks). I appreciate everyone's input. By the way, I've updated my profile to give further info about me. I'm a little hesitant to say anything bad about the shop or shop owner as, historically, this guy has actually been very good to me. I typically do a lot of research before I get any major work done and, in the past, this shop's prices were very comparable to other places and I consider the work to be "top of the line". But the supercharging price just completely blows away any other price I've come across.
Check with Chris at East Coast Supercharging since your in the D.C. area. They are a forum vendor and I have heard nothing but good about them on the forum. My Maggie install was 1,100.00 labor done at the dealership.
There are certainly some options that can make the install that much like headers, Methanol, clutches and maybe even a cam package..
We are still running our special for the complete SL1500 C6 kit installed and tuned for $7,495. Feel free to call us anytime if you have questions.. Here is a link to our site for your review..
