Default Removing stuck wheels???

My front wheels were powdercoated, and since the factory wheels are hubcentric, they were pretty difficult to get flush with the hubs; they ended up flush only after I torqued the lugnuts to spec.
Well, this effectively locked the wheels into the center of the hub because of the thin layer of paint around the wheel. It is stuck SO HARD that kicking the wheel didn't even begin to budge it.
I know alloy wheels like to get stuck to the hub once in a while, but I've never seen on that is stuck this hard. I'm considering taking it to a tire shop and have them deal with it, but does anyone have any clever tricks they can share before I give up on it?

Thanks

I took a large rubber hammer and hit the inside lip of the wheel and got some off before that were kind of rusted onto the car.

Not sure if you want to try it, but here's an old trick we used to use. Loosen all the lugs a little and first try turning the wheels full left to right several times. If that doesn't work you can drive the car slowly while turning the wheels. This usually did the trick.

Kicking the wheel from the inside didn't work? Obviously make sure the car is fully secure so that it doesn't fall on you but I've never seen a wheel that refused to come off. I've seen ones that took a lot of coaxing but eventually they release. Try kicking the wheel/tire then rotate it a little and kick again, repeat. If/when you do get it off maybe put a little anti seize where the wheel meets the hub.

This is the way.

It also works well if you lose the key to a locking lug - loosen the others and drive a little on it, it'll loosen up!

When this has happen to me i
loosen all the lug nuts
jack the car us
then shake the tire a bit
then i slowly drop the car so its full weight is on the wheel (this will loosen the wheel )
if not try it a few more times .

hope this helps.

Front Jeep wheels used to do this from time to time..Just turn lock-lock a few times..

Does anyone use a bit of lube or anti-seize to prevent this from happening?

I just had me wheels off this weekend and they were a little stuck. When I remounted them I put anti seize on the hub where the wheel sits against. I'll let you know next time I remove the wheels. Probably wont be for a while though.

I just mounted my 18x11 rear wheels and found the same problem, so I removed them before they seated and removed the PC, that made them seat prefectly!!

My rears didn't get stuck at all; they came right off... I wish I had removed the powdercoating around the edge of the inside of the wheel before I tightened it down

Some GREAT tips on this thread though! Thanks a lot guys, I will try it again as soon as my car comes back from Cartek

hit it with a 15 lb sledge on the inside of the tire this happens to me on my truck every time my son will be kicking it when we need to take them off, i get under it and a gentle whack right off, or you could wedge a scissors jack in there between the frame or a frame or try a portapower

I always use it on the mating surface of the disc and never had a problem (if the wheels are painted you have to remove the paint first)

Hey Sam ...... love the rail gun

I'm guessing they are getting stuck on the tiny hole where they meet the hub? I will start masking that area off on future wheels.
