I am planning on lowering my vette as much as my stock bolts will allow and I was wondering how people liked their rides afterwards. I hear it doesn't really help performance but it makes the car look a lot better. So if you have lowered your vette on the stock bolts witout cutting them could you give me some feedback. Also if anyone lives in the Atlanta area that knows how to lower vettes could you help out with lowering my vette.
I have NEVER scraped my car on anything yet after about 20K miles of being lowered 100% on stock bolts.
Occasionally you will hear the air deflector under there scrap, but that's not a big deal. As long as you aren't actually scraping your car you will be fine.

I lowered my car via coilovers and it DOES scrape. Not just in and out of entrances/exits but also if the road is not perfectly flat. Roads are designed to drain and have a crest not only at dead center of opposing traffic but in some cases, in a one way lane - this is where mine scrapes.

I lowered mine about a half inch, had to go back to stock height. The roads here in north eastern Pa. would not allow me to stay there.

Lowered all the way around on stock bolts. Air dam scrapes more than it used to, just have to be extra careful. Looks a lot better, closed that big gap at the real wheel. Running LG wheels and z06 rubber, no rubbing.
the looks of a lowered vette next to a non-lowered should sell it for you. The downside is scraping, of course it will scrape stock to. The air dam scraping is just part of the deal. You just need to learn a few tips, dont go straight into a steep drive, i accell right before the bottom of the dips, helps lift the car a bit. good luck

Guy that owned the car before me lowered it on the stock bumpers (cut). Scraped and rode like . I had it put back to stock height. Rides much better and no scraping.
Other opinions will vary.
Mine scraped even when extra careful. I guess that's why the front splitter is termed "sacrificial".
Same here. My driveway isn't that steep, and even at an angle it still scrapes, just a little but still scrapes. Business parking lots have me pulling out at 3 mph, but it's worth it.
The looks will be by choice. I think it looks better but some don't.
Yes, it will scrape if your not careful on very steep driveways or speed bumps. I've never had mine scrape anything while on the road ... never!
It WILL NOT change the ride quality. If you just look at how the adjustment is made you can see it does nothing to change the ride geometry. It is recommended that you have it re-aligned. Every vette should be properly aligned, new or old. The factory specs are all over the place.
I just lowered mine on after market ZIP bolts all the way down, and it looks AMAZING! My car doesn't have the side valances but it as the middle air dam, it scrapes sometimes but it all depends how you angle it. Sometimes I hear a squeak or two in the back when I go into driveways or speed bumps, but the look if it pays off.

My '06 and '09 cars were nearly identical, both Z51 cars, 6-speed, etc. The '06 sat low on the bolts straight from the factory. Had a great look from the get-go. The '09 by contrast looked like a friggin Silverado when I picked it up. Just dropped the '09 down 2 weeks ago on the factory bolts and measured both sides before we started. The passenger side bolts were set about 1/4" taller than the driver side was.
As for rubbing, expect the lower air dam to scrape. I average about 4-5 scrapes per cruise, but otherwise no other problems. You can minimize the scraping by using the right entry and exit angles. Just like rock-crawling in a 4x4.
As above, ride quality does not change. Could be me, but this time around it looked like it changed my camber. Called the dealer, told them it's pulling, re-aligned under warranty.
No issues with tire/wheel rubbing either. In fact my '06 was lowered all the way on the factory bolts with 275/30/19 fronts and 325/25/20 rears - never rubbed a tire.
