Default car going nuts!

Let me start at the begining, I have an 06 A6 and had the throttle body and intake ported with a small adjustment/taste of a tune from a reputable tuner. I then added headers and had the o2 rear sensor wire melt. So I left the sensor in pluging the hole and had the rear o2s deleted.

Since particularly the headers install I have been getting a message saying "ACTIVE HANDLING" on my dash then "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING" (the car pulls to the side!) to even having the AIRBAG SENSOR light up!!

I have taken it to the dealer and they have replaced both active handling sensors and NOTHING!

Is this a tuning issue??

PLEASE HELP!

It might be a tuning issue. But then it could be something else altogether too.

Interesting set of circumstances that you describe above, with the Service Active Handling and Airbag light coming on and the car pulling to the right.

I have never heard of such a thing and would be concerned about safety in driving it.

Hope you get it fixed real soon.

Steering position sensor is something that has caused this in the past. Happened on cars with the telescoping steering wheel.

The car pulls to the right when the message of the active handling comes on. I have read of this happening to other Vette owners but since the dealer has checked it and now the airbag sensor has come to play as well I cant help but wonder WTF?

Could that steering possition sensor be one of the two sensors the dealer replaced trouble shooting the message and would that affect the airbag light too?

I think in another case it was a bad BCM. Maybe a tune could have f'd that up?

By the way, I noticed today that the car is giving me a tire preasure reading... I dont have tire preasure sensors on my wheels!!!

Aside from the possibility of the bad BCM, could it need a reflash or a new battery??

Well, from the reading I have done, the Vette does not take kindly to no tire pressure sensors. That is one thing that cannot be tuned out or disabled. I think what happens is that after a period of time the car goes into "limp mode" which means it is held to 60MPH or lower. Not sure what the side effects of that would be on a non-stock car.

Very interesting problem.

Back to the top. I ordered Tire preasure sensors from Bob.

I took it for a ride today and notice a pattern. It turns on the active handeling at high rpms in 2nd. I have read read about it being the SWPS on telescoping steering equiped cars but it does'nt do it at high speeds but rather at high RPMs.

High speeds at low RPMs and no problem

High RPMs and there you go.. BAM! ACTIVE HANDLING

Have your ECM reflashed to a stock tune and see if this eliminates the problem.

That will eliminate the PCM.

If that's not it, then I would suspect when the "02 sensor wire melt" you may have developed a short circuit. Start there!
