As carlrx7 noted, air is mostly nitrogen to begin with. There is no risk of any harm in mixing pure nitrogen and air. And run flat tires with pressure sensors will not be harmed with any mix of air and nitrogen. The only effect is that the amount of benefit you get in changing to nitrogen will be reduced if you don't purge the air out. This will be a gradual change, but maybe not linear. As nitrogen concentration increases you will have behavior which is closer to pure nitrogen. Note that letting all of the air out of the tire and adding nitrogen still is not pure since some air still remains at 0 pressure. You would need to purge the tire many times to have pure nitrogen, but after one or two purges the difference would not be noticable.
air is 78% nitrogen already, soooo do what you gotta do..
I was going to say....
IMO and for all practical purposes the benefits of using "pure" nitrogen are negligible at best. Purity levels must be 95% or better which most sources are hard-pressed to produce. Unless it's convenient and free I wouldn't even bother with nitrogen. Even certain racing teams will often use dry air rather than nitrogen.
So if I mix winter air with summer air will I be ok? What if I have summer air in the rears with winter air up front?
Since the winter air is colder, the pressure may be too low, and you may need to add extra air, but you have to wait until winter to do it. Everyone knows you cannot mix summer and winter air.
