I ordered a 3.42 form DTE for my 1st C5, I had no issues with it. On my next C5 I went with DTE 3.73, after 6 months and 3000 miles it started whining bad. Took it back to the shop that did the install(a forum vendor) and they confirmed the whining. When the shop called DTE concerning the whine, DTE accused me of "tracking" my car and denied any warranty, even though my car has never been on any track what so ever, which was confirmed by the shop(they go to the track and have never seen my car there). In not so many words, I was called a liar. And all this without even seeing the differential.

I decided to go with another company(a forum vendor) for my next differential, a 4.10(never whined). Upon removal and inspection of the DTE 3.73's at a local transmission shop(non forum vendor). It was clear to me, and I am not an expert, that the gears were not lashed correctly.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I think others should know that I was denied warranty with out DTE even inspecting the differential, for reasons that never happened.

Caveat Emptor,

First of all, we don't "lash" gears when building a differential...

In the 8 1/2 years we have been in business building 1782 Corvette IRS differentials to date for many customers globally, we have NEVER denied ANYONE warranty coverage on ANY differential we've built by simply talking on the phone without even seeing the unit first... If we had spoke to you about the issue and IF we've been given the opportuinity to inspect the unit first-hand here at the shop to make an evaluation (which it sounds like we didn't even get that chance) we would have assisted you just like we've done for other folks in the past as well.

Also, since we have no idea who you are, you don't have a name or location in your profile, you've not provided a serial number to the differential in question, nor have you given a name of this "shop" you speak of, we can only assume the information you provide is not credible. Please give us a call to provide us with any/all of this information and we'll look into our records to see what was what, as we keep VERY detailed, serialized records of every differential, for each customer, we've built here since 2001.

I personally build and blueprint each and every differential that leaves this facility every day and there isn't anything I haven't seen at some point or another. If you have an issue, either now or in the past, I encourage you today, to pick up the telephone, dial our number 260.407.5455 and talk to me directly about it and we'll discuss it at length if need be.

It's that easy and I'll be in the office all day tomorrow waiting for your call...

Have a nice night.

Two more weeks left in this sale folks, so don't miss out.

BTW- A special thanks to our Canadian customer from Montreal, Quebec who drove down 14+ hours last week to have one of our high performance differentials installed into his Corvette and he will soon be a new DTE Powertrain Product Dealer in his area! That will make 3 dealer locations throughout Canada we'll have to serve our Canadian customers' needs.

Thank you for the business, it was very nice meeting you and enjoy your new-found performance!

Regards,
Phil

Just a quick note and reminder before I leave the office tonight for a much needed 3-day break with my family..

I wanted to chime in to let everyone know that our differential sale ends on Monday, so any orders that are phoned-in/captured by our answering service while we're away will be honored 100% and Jenny will be in contact with you on Tuesday to confirm everything.

Thanks once again to all those who have phoned or emailed us with questions and also to those that placed orders, as we appreciate it. Have a nice Labor Day Holiday Weekend folks and we'll be back in the office on Tuesday!

Regards,
Phil
