I've not had my C6Z to a road course, but have guest-driven cars belonging to others. On a road course I do turn off active handling. Unlike the drag strip where the wall is about 7-feet from the side of the car, the road course I've been on offers plenty of run-off. Plus there is ample reward for whatever risk it assumed.

does that mean you can turn it off for road racing
I run in Comp on a road course and haven't been getting any interventions, except at Daytona on the high-banked oval section. I've tried AH full on and get unacceptable jerks from the car putting on brakes while bumping along on the high banked sections, as well as sometimes when I'm trying to rotate the car in tight turns - but no problems in Comp.

I just reviewed the video below, but can't see what I can sometimes see in person. In the video the frequency of the electrical system of the car and the frames per second of my video recorder create an interference that causes my shift light (the lights at the top of the instrument cluster behind the top of the steering wheel) and all of the car's instruments to blink.

I was trying to see if I could see the DIC flashing that the AH was active, but I can't see it in that video.

When driving through NASCAR Turns 3-4 (about 1:45 to 2:00, and 4:00 to 4: 15 on the video) you can see that the steering wheel has a little left turn input, and you can also see that the track is pretty bumpy. You can also see the G-load up at the top of the video, and on the banking you're in about a 0.7 to 1.0 G left turn.

When driving those banked sections, even with Comp on, I can see an AH message flash from time to time. I can't feel any bad movement of the tail end, but at 150+ mph if the azz end lets loose I'm not gonna have much time to react to save it. AH is sampling things at something like 1,000 times per second, and can react much faster than I could. Even though I don't feel anything and sometimes see the AH message flashing, I'm glad to have the system doing its thing to help keep me off the wall.

There's no way that most human SOTP sensations are as sensitive as the AH yaw rate sensors and accelerometers, are sampling the data every 1,000th of a second, or can react as fast as the AH can.

I've only been to about 4 events on my Hoosier R6 tires, and they are a lot different than the stock tires. Until I REALLY learn when these things are approaching their limits, I'll run in Comp. If I really get good with them and need to drift/power slide or really need to pivot the car with brakes or power and the AH is intervening too much, I'll consider turning everything off.

But if I ever go to the drag strip, the only thing that will be off is TC.

Bob

Bob, if your video capture device allow changes to the shutter speed, you can beat the blinking by changing to a different setting that's not divisible by the original setting. If mine flickers at 1/60, I go to 1/100, for example. Might want to test that approach with your rig.

Yeah, but I can't find a way to do that with my current video setup - a ChaseCam.

On my previous video cam I could select 50 fps and the instruments didn't blink.

I'll have to do some research about the ChaseCam - there should be something I can do.

RLTW!!

I'm just wondering because my car has no tpms in it at the moment. I'm getting the "do not go above 50 mph, low tire pressure message." I didnt know if that effected my performance but i do notice that lately my mpg has been down to 15 at some points.
