Is this a common thing with the C6? It seems my son's 07 C6 vert with runflatsmakes a clunk sound when he goes to a full turn. Normal?
I'm going to say yes. There are actually several clunk noises that can happen at full lock (you'll have to be more specific) but they're all pretty common.
My 2005 made a clunking sound when I made slow, very sharp turns. I beleive there is something the dealership can fix. You may want to bring it in and have it checked out.
Thanks guys. It doesn't seem like something that should be normal in such a wonderful car. I, too, think a trip to a good dealership or good front end shop is in order for a detailed inspection.
Ford has good cars, don't knock them. My 06 Focus is at 54K miles with no maintenance costs other than consumables (oil changes and one set of tires, no brakes or anything else yet).
My 05 did just the same thing. It sounded like it was coming from the front on left hand turns when actually it was the rear-end clunking. Change it with Dexron LS or Mobile 1 75-90 fluid, do eight figure eights to let it work in the clutches and you should be good to go. There is a very good sight on this forum explaining the procedure but I have to go now therefore you will have to try to find it yourself. It is probably what is making the noise...if not try the end links too. Good luck and keep us posted.
