Default A/C Vent Technical Question

Complaint: I can get full flow through the dash vents or floor vents but when I select the bi-level setting I only get flow through the floor vents.

Without having ever looked at a service manual or having any idea how the A/C vents are controlled in a C6, I'm wondering if there is a normalizing procedure that can be performed to the blend door system.

I have late model Mercedes experience and it's not uncommon to have to normalize the stepper motors when we have a temperature or flow complaint. The stepper's full open/full close values can change from the actual vent position over time and require this.

I don't have access to a Tech II so I'm wondering, if there is a procedure, can it be done without it?

Actually, I mis-stated my complaint. In bi-level mode, I only have air discharging through the floor vents, nothing from the dash face vents.

If you unhook your battery for several minutes, the motors will re-calibrate when you re-connect.

Try doing a reset of the HVAC contol head by turning on ignition and press and hold these 3 buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds:

Front Defrost
Rear Defog
Fan Up

I knew there was something like this, but I couldn't remember which buttons to push and the computer I was on at the time didn't have my SI on it to look it up.
