Default Fuel Cooling

I have conqured my coolant, engine oil, and transmission cooling issues.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-f...ns-cooler.html

I am now think about cooling my fuel! Yes - My fuel.

Why not? Just think about those cool mornings when your car runs like a bat out of hell.

Why not add a cooler to do the same for your fuel?

Has anyone heard of anyone doing this?

The cool mornings give you cool air and coolant, not cool fuel. There is nothing in the ECM to reduce power from fuel temps but there are timing reduction maps for intake air and coolant temps.

Major ignition timing is pulled with warm intake air and with high coolant temps.

A friend of mine who was drag racing his 427 Dodge Hemi in the early 70's was using crushed ice that filled a canister where the fuel line spiraled through on its way to the carborator. He was doing this to cool the fuel. He believed it worked but I have no idea or have ever heard of any data that would confirm any type of performance gain.

Several things were done in the 60's and 70's in an attempt to compensate for heat. Cool cans were just one device to prevent vapor lock.

I heard someone mention a cool can, cool gas, and the cooler air. I need a concensus here.

no 100 years of automotive tech and your the first one to think of it, how about a dry ice cannister , the fuel runs through coils inside a small cooler, try summit or jegs, it runs like that on a cool mourning because the air is more dense, hey there you go... mount a igloo cooler on the hood and a vararam upside down and draw the air through the ice in the cooler

Your car is faster on cool mornings because it is taking in cold AIR, not cold fuel. Power gains from chilling the fuel are minimal and you will actually lose power if you cool the fuel enough because fuel vaporization will suffer and you will begin to get incomplete combustion.
