Default Yet another broken clutch spring recipient!

Hi....I'm looking for some advice from you Forum chums who have suffered the oft reported "broken clutch spring". Mine broke...about 2/3 is still inserted in the clutch area, so I still have functionality. I ordered a replacement and have it in hand. I can clearly see the two mounting holes and where the bracket and bar couples the clutch to the spring.

Here's my concern....on the Forum thread I found, several members said removing the spring was a piece of cake, but reinstalling the new spring was really tough...if not impossible. I don't want to get stuck halfway....have any of you been able to reinstall a new spring? Are there any tricks?
Thanks as always.
Jim

Mine broke so I took it to the dealer and they replaced it for free... Only thing I've ever had to take the car to the dealership for...

Default Clutch Spring

Mine broke and I've been running the car with out it for about 2-3 months....seems to be working fine without it and the clutch feel seems to be a bit better. Hopefully I am not ruining anything by doing so. Thoughts anyone?

Running without the clutch pedal return assist spring or using one with improper torsion could lead to premature clutch failure...use the proper spring. I was going to post a link to a thread explaining why using no spring or the wrong one was a bad idea but I just checked and the page is gone...odd?

Here's a link that may help you reinstall the spring. IMO it was a very easy fix. Before you remove the remaining part of the broken spring, put a pad down and slide-in on your back and look carefully to see exactly where the replacement spring is going to go. Again, it's really easy to do...hopefully the following link will help. Good luck!

Thanks....I'll give this a try. I've done the body contortion necessary to see the spring.....were you able to use both hands?
