SgtRod 68 sixspeed is giving you good advise in # 13 and # 15. 230F is not hot. What a lot of people do not realize is the oil flow through the engine is part of the cooling system.
Have you checked your oil level. If it is over filled there will be increased windage in the oil pan. This can increase oil temps. If the oil level is correct and your radiator/condenser doesn't have any debris stuck in it, dont worry.
I have an 05' Z51. Living in TX i changed my coolant to <50% dexcool and added some water wetter (purple ice actually). I usually don't get above about 216 on the street unless i start doing some spirited driving. I got my oil up to 232 just doing the bedding in of my brakes but it cooled down pretty quick.
I took mine to the track 2 weekends ago and just broke 260 in the last session or two. A Z06 i rode with got to about 270.
From what i have come to understand the car is built to run about 212 which would help get rid of any excess water in there. I have heard LS3s run a bit warmer but if yours is not a Z51 then I would guess your probably fine. Regular 230s aren't going to hurt anything would be my guess, if you track your car though id watch your temps pretty close to see what they climb too.
Thanks guys! This is a pretty old post. I sold that car so its a whole new game. I have an ls3 08 m6 and wont know anything about that car until I get it tuned. Its not a z51 so I too wonder about oil cooler options.
