Default Engine Response Specifications

Hey guys,

I'm currently working on a driving computer game for a school project, and I chose the Z06 as the primary car to model. I've been able to gather most of the information I need to model the car from various sites in terms of the torque curve, drag, etc. One thing I haven't been able to find however is the how fast the engine speed responds with WOT. That is, when you hit the gas, how long do you spend in first gear, second gear, third gear, etc. Additionally, when drag racing, roughly how high do you let the engine rev before shifting? Any information would be greatly appreciated, even if it's only a rough estimate.

To recap:

1. How many seconds are spent in each gear at WOT
2. At what engine speed do you typically shift to the next gear
3. How long does it take to physically shift from one gear to the next (my current estimate is about a quarter of a second)

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if you can still find a chart, but Car and Driver used to publish an acceleration graph of speed vs. time. It would give you the amount of time spent in each gear. I think its also generally agreed that best acceleration times are achieved when shifting at redline.

If you post this in the Z06 section you might get better response. There are a couple guys like Ranger, Jamie Furman, walterm32 that do a lot of drag racing and log many of their passes with HPT. Ask if they could dump the data to excel and give you the time stamp, mph, rpm, and throttle position from their logs for a few passes.
