Nothing in your profile to indicate where you're located & what temps you've been experiencing, but one thing I disliked about the GY Supercars that came with the Z51 option is that they were very slippery in the cold......anything under 45 or 50 degrees ambient & they took forever to warm up. Finally got rid of them for Nitto Invo's (non RF) & have been very pleased. Excellent traction & grip plus MUCH less road noise than the GY's.
I had (just sold the car) Vredestein Sessanta 295\35 18 on my 430rWHP trans am. i did a search on this forum 1 year ago to see what the big boys recommended.
I absolutely LOVED the tires. problem is, no one in Texas has them. I bought mine off ebay. The tires are #1 in Europe and have AMAZING grip. Expected life is 28000 miles!!
Bad a$$ tread design, quiet too. Rated to 186MPH. Hope this helps!!
Both the C6 Z51 and Z06 cars come with Goodyear F1 Supercar EMT tires. The Corvette ZR1 comes with Michelin ZP tires.
I am not a fan of the Goodyear EMT tires. They are noisy, have poor traction, and wear out quite fast. A few years ago I was out of town and one of my Goodyear Supercar front tires picked up a nail. I took it into Discount Tire and the nail was near the sidewall so it was not repairable. At the time there were no Goodyears available anywhere, so the manager suggested the Michelin PS2. Wow, what an improvement!
Now, I have converted both of my Corvettes to Michelin PS2 non runflat tires. The Michelins are much quieter, traction is improved, and the big surprise is the ride is a lot smoother.
You can pick up a used pair of Michelin PS2 on eBay fairly cheap and give them a try. After a few days you will never use the Goodyears again.
I think anything would be beter than the runflats. As others have said, they are noisy, especially on grooved concrete. And the "advantage" of running 50 miles on a flat tire will probably just get you to somewhere else that doesn't carry the tire. My GM extended warranty covers towing on a roll back flatbed.
I switched to Proxes T1R at 7000 miles, and sold the runflats on this forum for $600. Factor that into your cost of switching. They are much quieter (much!), and I can get them at any Les Schwab tire dealership. The cold traction is better also. Warm traction is about the same, quite good. Now at 15K miles, they still look new.

Your girl is smart. If you have plenty of tread left then you're wasting your money. Kumho's have the best grip based on magazine testing. But you're not going to see enough difference to warrant wasting a good set of tires.

Look into a set of General tires, I found these by accident on Tire Rack.Com. I got a set of 4 for less than $740 last year. The ride is less Harsh! with the Eagles my Wife hated to ride in the vette. Now she likes ridding in the car. Also I got 10,000 out of the Eagles.the generals have 14,000 and still going great inthe rain and they do better inthe cold also!
Just installed a complete set of BF Goodrich G-Force KDW's on my 2007 Z51 MN6 and love the looks, ride and performance. Lot better than the run flats that came on the car.
