Default Changing Brake fluid for track...

i have a c6 2008 stock

I am going to track this weekend... it will probably be a one time deal. should i change the brake fluid to dot 4 castrol srf?

We are running four 25min sessions... i dont want cut my day short for an 80dollar investment if the brake fluid boils?

what do you think?

Depends on you and the track you shouldn't need SRF though, probablyt a good idea to flush it (bleed) with a good DOT 4
Castrol LMA or valvoline. If your are not tracking regular once every two years is enough, or bleed befor and after a track day (within one week)

Castrol SRF is the best IMHO. You also don't need to change/flush it as often.

As cold as it is right now just about everywhere in the country you are probably not going to need anything more than bleeding the brake fluid you already have in the car after the event. I have been using the liquid gold (at $90 a quart) Castrol SRF but the car is only used on the track. For a one day HPDE in December you shouldn't need it. If you do get to that point you are probably using the brakes so hard that your rotors will be discolored and have grooves in them. If you are going back to street use that may be something to think about, especially if they are not timed or competition sessions.

I would leave it alone myself... are you in CA by any chance? I was planning on going to the track this weekend too, but it may be raining.

For your first (and probably only) time on a track I think you'll be fine running in stock trim. Be warned...you might have such a good time you'll become a track regular. Be safe and have a blast!

motul is also good but its $15 per 500mL, so $30 per LITER... not really worth it IMO

its in miami... tempeture probably around 75-80degrees.

I think i am just going to flush it with regular dot 4 stuff. What is the difference between automated bleed and manual bleed.

What would i need to do it myself.... open one bleeder at a time and keep reservoir full until new liquid shows?

I would hesitate to open the brake system for my first time right before the track... I have done two "short" track days with untouched stock brake system with no issues for what it's worth...

Only thing we use in the race cars. For those that just do track days every once and a while...Motul 600 RBF has been a good fluid as well.

Since you are going this weekend you don't have a lot of time to get a good fluid. Sounds like this is your first time so you really won't push the brakes that hard. I recommend you visit your local Ford Dealer tomorrow morning and get 4 containers of Ford Super Duty brake fluid. Its dry boiling point is 500 degrees F and that will be sufficient for an event this weekend. The only real advantage SRF has over the Ford fluid is a little higher dry boiling point and a much better wet boiling point but that is a non-issue over such a short time.

Yea sure, one time deal, I predict it will not be your last. Miami? I do not know what date you are writting this, Homestead of course. Are you going with Henry Gilbert's Hooked on Driving? If so yo will have so much fun you will be back for sure. My first time with my stock setup was not too great, Brake fluid boiled and brakes went away after a short time. I would at least change fluid to good DOT 4, even if you never go back it is worth the slight amount of work, (sure, one time event), I really would recomend putting in a good set of track pads, Carbotech AX8 and 10 are great, these 2 things will ensure you will be able to run real hard all day with no brake problems. Actually you should spend a lot of time going slow, not fast, learn the skill and take advantage of the great instructors that Henry will provide you with, fast will come with seat time. I for one had no skill at all when I began, still don't but now I can actually get around the track, not too bad. Do these 2 very simple things to be sure you have a great day, and you can always sell the pads after your one and only track day.
