I like the idea of the cold air intake but I live in South Florida and I hear of alot of problem with it sucking up water. I was told to just drop a K & N in the box. A tune would be nice. I heard there was a plug and play one you can buy. I believe it is called the diablo chip. What do you all think?
I live in miami too. No problems with my Varram intake. You just shouldn't drive through a flood at highway speeds.
Just be aware you well lose your GM powertrain warrenty if you tun your vette . And they well know if you chang it back to stock . Header
may also void your warrety . Just so you'll know . Good luck .
if your not going to be modding much a tune can be great or so so,each car is different,I gained 24rwhp from just a tune on my stock 05, Ive had gears installed in every sports car ive ever owned, was a lot better paying 450 bucks in the mustang gears over the 1900 for vettes.Go with 410s all the way if you dont drive much highway, they are so much fun.
Are you talking performance or appearance? Tune usually follows headers and CAI. Tune by itself is a waste of money since it will cost $500 and will only gain you around 12hp which you will not notice.
what have you been smoking? stock 06 first pull 346.7 after tune 379.9 mustang dyno
Lot's of issues with Vararam. We take them off peoples cars all the time and install something else. I picked up 18 RWHP and 17 RWTQ with the K&N setup.
Street tunes and mail order tunes are subjective. I call them placebo tunes because you don't know for sure whether you really gained something or if it is mostly in your head. If I told you you got a tune and you drove your car, you would swear it was faster just because it is in your head. If you are going to tune it, take it to a dyno and get some before and after numbers.
The first Vararam equipped car I worked on convinced me I'd never run one on anything I owned...one big dirt vacuum!

Not really that bad. I do agree though that the fitment sucks. it does make power though. Get the upgraded replacement piece and be sure the gasket stays put. Really a lousy design for filter fitment and seal though. I still use it on a wk car no rain car but I watch it especially if driven through dust storm.
