Default Best CAI along w/ basic mods?

im looking to start modding my 06, for right now i am doing just the basics. no cam or heads yet. i went from a 3v mustang to a c6 so the modding world is waaaaay different on the chevy side lol. what all does everyone recommend as far as cai, pully(s), exhaust, programmer and axles?

you will get alot of opinions but i think we all agree you need better flow coming in and going out and the stock engine tune is pretty weak. I would look to any intake system that gives cold out side air and true ram air. These are the ones that you need to cut the shroud to get it. The headers and better flowing cats are also a must and American racing, LG or Kooks all seem to be very similiar as long as you go with 1 7/8's size. The tune you will get tons of opinions on as well but i think Cow is running a special (he like most requires a 160 degree stat installed) and i used him with good results. Good luck with the modding, its shocking how much a tune alone can do. paul

It's been shown that 1 3/4 and 1 7/8 headers perform almost identically. Sam (Powerlabs) proved this quite some time ago.

I feel a true, bottom feeding cold air intake is an essential component of one's overall modification plan. There are several popular and well respected brands but which is "best" is a matter of debate. Vararam seems to be quite popular and the Callaway 'Honker' intake is well-regarded. I wanted the Lingenfelter high-flow intake...their reputation is legendary and IMO they set the gold standard for Corvette performance engineering. I'm very happy with my LPE high-flow intake.
