Thinking of trading up to a 2010 GS M6. How good is the stock clutch? what power levels or usage profiles would dictate a clutch upgrade? What aftermarket clutches should be on the short list?
Plan to use as a daily driver with occasional drag and track day use.
your right! I think GM probably put a inferior clutch in the GS, if i were you I would put the most expensive clutch I could find in it before I even drove it, it might blow up on the way home, who knows? you could bring the clutch to the dealer to install before something bad happens

The stock clutch will get destroyed with drag usage, and will definitely fail out around 500whp, possibly even sooner. Sure, for a stock car, the stock clutch will be fine, but if this person is asking about power level limits and already talking about changing clutches, chances are he's going to bring the stock clutch to an early death. Take your snarky posts somewhere else.

you do know that the only clutch GM use's in base, gs. Z51, Z06 is the Z06 clutch, so I guess GM is putting in a clutch so very close to the failure point you mention, the stock Z06 is running some where in the range of 430-440 rwhp before any tuning or power add'ers IE: TT, SC if fact there are soo many guys here on this very forum that have WELL over 500 rwhp that track their cars often that are using the stock clutch{even 05' and 06's before they got the Z06 clutch in 07} and one thing on this very forum THAT YOU HEAR VERY LITTLE OF IS CLUTCH FAILURE! his post started with the premiss that the stock clutch is already inferior and just is not true, do a little home work and you'll probably find it will take upwards of a 1000hp
The stock clutch can handle a whole lot more than what some give it credit for. I was well over 500rwhp for years before I upgraded the power and installed the Spec Super Twin just to be safe.
Had an RPS Street Twin and my Slave went. Looked to replace the slave and move on but spoke with RPS and they offered a street twin LITE for minor $$ upgrade and a (almost) permanent fix for slave failures.
I thought the Street Twin was excellent. The Lite is 2X as good. Low, low peddle pressure, sure engagement, and 800 ft-# capacity.
The service was at the top - great people to deal with.............and quick

If you’re not pushing over 600rwtq then there's No need to swap out the clutch. The factory GS Clutch is fine for occasional track usage

Stock clutch will work great. Be careful, some aftermarket race clutches are not very street friendly, they engage almost instantly.
You're kidding, right? In the hands of a total moron, anything, and any clutch is worthless. This guy doesn't know the difference between "burnout" rubber smell and burning clutch smell.
That wouldn't be your case, would it? This is not an example of a poor clutch performance, right?
