Go two more circles or bubbles over until you see only a 4 number circle. For instance, the third bubble over on mine says, 1908, meaning 19th week of 2008.

I just had a set of Firestone wide ovals installed yesterday. I found the tires are on the L. side are not marked either. The ones on the right are 38th week of '09.
These tires are unidirectional, but all 4 have arrows in the correct direction.
That's true, it could be on the inside as the DOT requirement is only on one side of the tire and frequently it's the inside. However, I have had another brand (Bridgestone) where they acknowledged there was NONE on the tire at all. No Build Date inside or out. And due to their wear pattern and handling, after much "conversation" they gave me a new set and said don't ask again. Nice huh?

Odd?
Talked to tire shop yesterday. The Firestones are made so they can be rotated left to right side after dismounting from wheel. All 4 tires are marked on the same side of the tire with the date code.
Not true, one of my 4 tires has the code on the outside, 4807 if you are curious. The other 3 are on the inside.
On the asymmetric tires I have seen, the code is on the inside. If the tires can be mounted both directions on the wheel, the code could be on either side. I can see where directional tires could be either, depending on which side of the car they are on.
