Yeah in for dyno gains. I was about to pull the trigger on TSP LTs but these have the cats for the same price.

sorry guys...

Type this number on Ebay... 260250034878

It's probably one of the best companies that I've ever delt with on the site over the last 5 years. The quality of the product is probably better than stock, is color coated to perfectly match the stock sensor set-up. they also happen to be the cheapest I've found. By almost $30.

We manufacture some.
http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductD...GR-SR&CTitle=&

As far as the headers they may be great, but they are made overseas that is why they are half the cost. Some guy who gets paid a dollar a week is making them. We sell Kooks and I sell them for a reason, they are the best. I have never had an issue that was not taken care of asap, they are made in the USA which means they are paying Americans so they can put food on their plates. I mean you can get a great deal on a Kia too, I believe they have one that sells for $9995 New compared to 50+ for a new Vette. The only down side is that Americans are not feeding there families from that sale. You want to fix the economy, keep the money in the USA. So fight always comes down to people believing that someone is just making a killing on the parts, the headers in China, I am sure they do have to pay insurance premiums, health care, tax's or any other stuff that goes into it. I would love for the ones that advocate buying these, what do you guys do for a living?

I need to buy more parts from Zip. Nice to see someone speak up. Jobs in this country are important to me and I support US manufacturers whenever I can.
I bought a set of headers I believe are the same ones discussed here from a different vendor. They had a DTS logo on them.I was told they were US made, but I'm pretty certain they were not. The vendor graciously took them back and I bought a set of ARH's as I know exactly where they came from. By they way, if these are the same headers, the x-pipe does not overlap the over axle pipes and you have to use a clamp to connect as a butt joint. That is totally unacceptable.

Seriously though, I am just tired of watching the news and seeing what is happening. I manufacture parts and I am always getting quotes in from overseas even though on my instructions to machine shops is that I only use USA manufacturers. You can't believe the cost difference, I mean a part I may be paying $100 ea on will cost $15 from over there. I still do not let myself get lured into that because that means the machine shops that are here will not get work and the will have to let employees go and those employees may own Corvettes and then you lose a customer. It is a vicious cycle that has to be broken. The only way that will work is for everyone to open their eyes and notice the cause and effect first. I am guilty of it too when buying parts for myself personally sometime, not Corvette parts but stuff around the house or my trucks. I have to remind myself not to look the super cheap price. I know I am just ranting, but it is time to really look at where parts come from and what happens when we continue to buy them. Actually I will tell you what will happen. The guys who make the great parts here in the USA will go out of business and the ones made across the pond will have no competition. Once that happens the so so parts will get worse and guess what every part you buy for your car will have issues trying to get it to work. It is about time to make a stand for American workers. I can tell you this, any manufactured by Zip, it is made in the USA.

Noble sentiments, but the truth is that the average Joe public will buy the lower priced items, especially in this economy. We are in a rapidly changing world enomony and market and we can't expect to keep doing the same thing and survive. That's why our major US auto makers are in trouble. WE must adapt and thrive or keep the status quo and go under.

Maybe this has been asked. Noticed in the pic on LPP site that the X portion of the X pipe is located in front of the cats. Most headers have the X behind the cats. Anybody know the advantage or disadvantage of either?

I hear what you're saying, but the truth is that LG/Kooks/ARH although high in quality, are grossly overpriced. TSP makes a set of longtubes in Texas (good ole USA) that has great fitment, power gains inline with the big 3, that sell for (with the x-pipe) for under $800. That's less than half of a similar Kooks setup. I'm all for keeping money in the US, but people have to be able to afford the products. I'll probably go with TSP, I still want to see the gains of these LPP's first.

I think the TSP headers are mild steel, not stainless and the $800 price is with no cats. I considered them as well.

Correct. The $769 price is without cats, that's why these Lpps interested me since their catted version is the same price as TSPs uncatted. I have yet to see anyone state why mild steel is inferior concerning header use. I have researched those quite extensively.

Good point. Back in the 70's most all headers were mild steel and I never had any of them fall off or rot off the car. I'm all for paying a fair price for anything and I wholly support buying american made but the prices some of these peope charge is just a flat rip off. BTW, I support all of the big 3. I have 3 Vettes, a Ford pickup, and a Chrysler grocery getter.

Mild steel is more easily formed than Stainless and costs considerable less to buy and fabricate. The down side is, unless it's ceramic coated which adds to the cost, it will oxidize quickly.

I understand what you are saying, but that is not the case.
They are not overcharging and making this huge profit that everyone seems to think.
It costs a ton of money to make any part before you actually even get to make the part. That all gets worked into it. Insurance, health care, fuel prices for delivery of material, electricity, welding materials, paying working Americans that have the skills to build these. That all goes into and you end up having an expensive part. Believe me I have tried to make some items that I thought were overpriced and it just can't be done without cutting the extra add on items like labor, insurance etc. So what I am saying here is that we are in a cycle that we will not be able to recover from in the future unless we start now. Forget I am from Zip or a Corvette company, I am not asking you to purchase parts from here. I am a US Marine and a proud American. I know how hard it is to buy right, it is easy to buy cheap but look at what you are doing. Maybe if you can't afford the american made part you wait until you can. Keep the jobs here by buying products from here. If we don't we will all be working minimum wage jobs stocking up stores with imports. Think it will not affect everyone, will we will have gov healthcare so doctors aren't going to make any money, lawyers will have to cut there fees just so someone can afford to be represented, stock market guys will have to learn foreign companies because the United States does not make anything and the car we look forward to coming out is a Hyndai. Think about your job now and who your customers are, it just might be the guy you are putting out of business because you choose to buy overseas. I am not tying to put myself above everyone else here because I still do not buy everything from the USA that I can, but I sure am trying very hard and I have made it a point this year that if I can't then I don't buy it. It has made not buying a new TV really tough. Speaking of that what happened to RCA? It can happen with any American company, I mean we just watched GM go bankrupt last year who would have thought.

you know, this is one of the first threads that I've seen in a long time not go completely bad when there are two good sides to an argument. "jabbot" makes a lot of sense with his argument. And there is no question that buying American is where we should be concentrating most of our efforts.
Also, "JABBOT".... thank you for your service. From the bottom of my heart, I apprectiate you in what ever capacity you have served. Thank you.

As far as Header Choice goes. I'm not a shill, nor am I a vendor. I won't use the name of the header nor will I use the vendors name as the website admin was somewhat upset when I did. That said, the headers that where the original subject of this post are good. Are they the best? NO IDEA! They may make a couple ponies more, or... less. But I will tell you that the quality, from over-seas or not, Is simply fantastic. Yes, I too was led to believe that they were made in the USA. I have no evidence to think otherwise. If they are, then they are. I'm not less of an American because of it. My wife drives a 2010 Toyota Prius. It's assembled in the US with US hands. Yes, Japanese parts erected by the hands of our brothers and sisters. I try to do my part, but it's not always possible. The TV problem is a good example and one of the reasons why we are having so many problems in our country. We are producing less and less. Everyone else (China) is producing more and more. 45% of the parts for japanese cars come from.... CHINA. 32% of the space shuttle electronic parts come from Japan, China and even MEXICO. It's hard to compete with that. I know, and the market is not a good place for vendors/companies selling USA built goods at 2 or even 3 times the cost.

The header situation is not unique, and if they are in fact built in China, the only thing that we can say is that at least there is a 75% chance that the materials used in the process came from.... U BET.... USA. We supply China with most of their raw materials like STEEL, ALUMINUM, STAINLESS, COPPER AND BRASS. This isn't my number but the number given by the WALL STREET JOURNAL in July of 08. We supply so much of our own resources to over-seas countries that it costs Americans more to buy that stick of 2in .125 walled tubing for the sand car you would like to build The steel companies simply say that "supply can't keep up and that's why you are paying more". Now that number of 75% fell drastically in the last 2 quarters of 09 when China's growth starting to be effected by the world's economic problems.

But back to the headers.... yes, they are cheaper, and YES, the quality is down right fantastic. No they don't BUTT ends after the X, Everything is sleeved (both sides of the connection). However, that is the weakest part of the system. A better clamping system should be developed. I for one, am simply welding the joints... DONE!

Kooks Headers..... - fantastic!
Kooks Price..... - great if you can afford it.

Off Brand mentioned above...... - fantastic!
Off Brand Price..... -

Either way... My baby is loving the new found power. Absolutely love the power, performance and the SOUND

Again, thanks for keeping this thread clean.

PEACE!!
