When I turn them on they move about 1/4 way up the glass and stop. sometimes they start again in a few minutes, sometimes they dont. last time they were stuck until i turned the car off and then in acc mode they came back on. i can mess with the switch all i want and nothing happens. anyone had this problem? and is it a wiper motor failure? or what?
no thoughts on this? my wife's old 95 silverado did the same thing and it just needed a new piece for the wiper motor, so im going to look into it this weekend.
I'm not an electrical person, so I have no idea where the intermittent failure would come from.
If you want to check the mechanical aspects you can open the hood, pull off the rubber seal on the front edge of firewall, snap off wiper arm cover and remove nut, remove wiper arm and pull off the washer hose from nipple, remove torx screw on each end of the plastic cover at the base of windshield, remove the plastic cover to expose the parallelogram looking wiper linkage/assembly.
Maybe something got sucked into that area and is tangling up the linkages to prevent smooth movements?

the problem isn't smooth movements, its an on/off problem. it move up to 1/4 way up the windshield and just stops until it feels like going again, then it works great. im gunna find the motor and jiggle it a little and maybe clean it out and see if that helps. luckily it hasn't been raining much here lately.
