Default C6 vs C3 long term viability

I have a '08 C6 and a '71 C3 that has the original drive train. After almost 40 years the C3 is reliable and when something does break it is usually easy to repair.

What will my C6 be like in just 10 or 20 years? With all of the electronic and computer components will it be as reliable as the C3?

Thanks

For a relaxing cruise the C3. For long trips and spirited driving the C6.

you have to take in account that in a C3 you have points, maybe valves to adjust depending on which model and maintenance issues. i traded in my C4, 1984 in 04, it had misc. problems with the LED gouges, they all did, but the ECM and sensors held up for 20 years. they are probably a bit more sophisticated in electronics now than in 1984. if that helps, i'm glad to chime in. i favor the advances made in auto electronics as to the good old days....if you had any serious upgrades to make on your C3 it would be done with a computer program that was unheard of in 1970.

I have a 71 as well as a C5 and a C6

They are 71 4 sp Coupe, had a 98 MN6 Coupe (sold) 02 ZO6 and 06 Z51 MN6 coupe.

NOTHING in the drive train in any of the cars has out right failed. I have replaced the normal wear and tear items on the 71 and up-graded the suspension bushings.

As far as the C5's go, they have been VERY Dependable. I drive them very hard but take care of them. C5 and C6 have a LOT more electronics and they tend to have more issues in that area. If you drive each car normaly the mechanical stuff will last a very very long time. If you beat on any of the vehicles, your going to wear out or break stuff what ever car you drive.

There are several C5 owners that have well over 250,000 miles on there cars. The 97's are 13~ years old and still going strong.

Your C6 will last a VERY long time and as time goes by, we will have figured out why and how everything breaks.
